Keeping Receipts
We talk with Liz Thompson, SABR member and creator of fantastic scorebooks at
Diamond Scorecard Designs. Follow her on Bluesky at
lizzierie.
We discuss the joys of scoring baseball games – even if this season is not one for which we would like to keep receipts.
Around the Bases
First Base: Disaster Strikes
Wednesday’s game was a possible all-time implosion. After scoring eight runs by the second inning, the O’s packed their bats, and then handed the pitching staff a lighter. Ultimately losing 12-8 in a minor league stadium felt very appropriate.
Second Base: So… this has to be it, right?
Whether it was a good idea or not, the Orioles’ somewhat improved play over the last couple of weeks had led us to casually look at the standings – particularly the AL Wild Card race. Was it truly outlandish to think the Orioles could erase a 6.5 game deficit?
Third Base: RELEASE THE KRAKEN!
Gary Sanchez is back, so… that’s good?
With seemingly more Orioles on the IL than on the active roster, it is good to see that the team is starting to more closely resemble the squad Mike Elias envisioned.
