Parkway of Broken Dreams feat. PJ Perez

Strange memories on this nervous night in Las Vegas. We talked with journalist PJ Perez, the director behind Parkway of Broken Dreams, a retrospective on the culture created along Las Vegas’ Maryland Parkway in the 1990s — a scene that birthed this very podcast.
After a deep dive into the unique coffee-stained ’90s weirdness that spawned his idea for the documentary, we took a stroll down memory lane in a rousing game of Defunct Vegas Venue Trivia, testing PJ’s memory and mettle as a Sin City music-venue-knower.
Visit parkwayofbrokendreams.com to find out where and when you can catch the doc, and follow PJ on Twitter @PJPerez.

Healthy, Wealthy & Swine – A Just Dem Boyz Hangout

Does your senior healthcare system hang low? Does it wobble to-and-fro? Can you tie it in a knot? If you died would anyone know?
We discussed the bleak landscape of the future of healthcare through the lens of two apps aimed at helping old folks and mental health, all watched over by machines of loving grace. Papa is an app that erases your guilt about being a shitty son or daughter in the throes of late capitalism, and Brave is an app that improves your mental health by letting you complain to a robot about Brenda from accounting who thinks she’s soooo great but somehow is still single. Maybe look at yourself, Brenda. Maybe take a good long look in the mirror and ask yourself why you’re still single and pushing 35.

Miami Elections, Francis Suarez, Luciferase, Facebook & Other Stupid Tech Scams

It’s Election Day across and a disinterested nation yawns! In a Just Dem Boyz episode, the fellas go deep on how little there is to actually vote for in places like New Jersey, Virginia, and right here in the city of Miami. Then, we discuss the Satanic infusions of Luciferase in our vaccine supplies. Read the last book of the New Testament to see how this ends!
The main crux of this episode deals with the so-called Facebook Papers, the kabuki theater it represents, and whether it is feasible for people to drop the social network and salt the ground that birthed it.

On Proud Boys and Being Pissed

We recorded this like one hour before Andrew Cuomo resigned but we probably wouldn’t have done anything differently anyway. Don’t come to us for Andrew Cuomo takes.
We went into the other news of the day, including COVID, mask mandates, the IPCC report, Proud Boys culture and your own righteous anger.

I Got Your Worst Week Yet Right Here, Pal (But Literally) feat. Maria Guido (@sandernista412)

*** You can donate to the victims of the Surfside Champlain Towers disaster at supportsurfside.org.***
We caught up with Maria Guido from The Worst Week Yet Podcast to talk about Juvenile Justice reform and Ron DeSantis’ capricious (or more likely malicious) veto of a bill that would have expunged the records of youth offenders, despite the bill’s unanimous support among Tallahassee Democrats and Republicans. She lends her expertise as a social worker in the realm of Juvenile Justice to explain the challenges facing kids who run afoul of the law.
Later, we started feeling those vibes, yo. Which vibes? Oh, you know which vibes. It’s Bistro Vibes my man. Join us.
Then, stick around to the end of the episode and learn about the free speech journey of the MILF Mobile.

Another Crossover feat. Thomas & Gerry from Red Tide Radio

*** You can donate to the victims of the Surfside Champlain Towers disaster at supportsurfside.org.***
Q & Jewish Dave sat down for an hour with the fellas from Red Tide Radio to go over a whole host of news items, and to try to have a bit of fun on a dour week marked by the tragedy of what could end up being a large loss of life in the Surfside Champlain Towers disaster. We talk about Miami-Dade’s fetish for development at all cost, and how that ravenous pursuit of profits translates to worse living conditions for our citizens.
Then we got into a recent Bloomberg piece about the value of young people working extra hours for free, and how their sweat and blood greases the same great wheel that breaks their backs.
We finish up with a rousing game of “Republican, or just a Florida Democrat?” which Thomas, frankly, dominated.

Do you believe the words coming out of your mouth? feat. Andrea Mercado

This week we’re joined by Andrea Mercado of Florida Rising who, along with a slew of other activist groups, recently published their findings from a media monitoring campaign tracking disinformation in Spanish language media in Miami. No Mas Disinformation is live online, and it has been generating buzz about a corner of media that often goes under-discussed and is rarely explored by the wider media.
Andrea talks us through the findings, the trend lines in Spanish language media, introduce us to some of the biggest liars on the AM dial in Miami, and the full scope of the problems that come when entire swaths of our community have their perception of the world warped by outlandish lies.
Follow Andrea on Twitter @DREAMERcado and Florida Rising @FLRising.
And as a bonus, see if you can spot the various points where Q’s daughter makes an unannounced guest appearance throughout this episode. Enjoy!

Bird Road Podcast is BACK for Season 4: The Fourth Season. You thought you got rid of us? Wow. That really says a lot about you.
We celebrated the world’s largest Bitcoin conference which was held in Miami last week and has predictably been designated a COVID super-spreader event.
We also talked about Miami-Dade County’s anti-violent crime plan and the gaping holes it has.
Q’s audio sounds like crap for the first 17 minutes, we can’t fix it, deal with it.

Storyboys – “It’s all connected” OR the unified theory of Florida GOP corruption

This week we have another Storyboys episode and Q is going deep on the confluence of scandals encompassing former-Seminole County Tax Collector Joel Greenberg, Rep. Matt Gaetz, Frank Artiles, phony political candidates,  electoral fraud, misappropriation of public funds, bitcoin fires, underage sex trafficking, and more the GOP’s favorite things. We explore how Florida is a test lab for the Republican Party’s most perverse peccadilloes, and how it got that way.

Storyboys: On Sinema – Kyrsten Sinema and the corrupting power of the U.S. Senate

In our inaugural Storyboys episode, Q has a story to tell about the senior Senator from Arizona, the Queen Bee thumb-downer, the master of political disguise, Kyrsten Sinema, and about whether the US Senate is a corrupting influence, or if the institution’s allure of power and influence simply attracts the most easily corruptible handmaidens of power.

Florida Whip-Around Coverage feat. Rep. Anna Eskamani

This week we’re talking with State Rep. Anna Eskamani from District 47 about a whole host of issues, including Gov. Ron DeSantis’ failed vaccine rollout, the role that politics and preference plays in serving citizens, the HB1 anti-protest bill and Rush Limbaugh. She also outlined a solution to fixing the broken state Democratic Party.
Follow Rep. Eskamani on Twitter @AnnaForFlorida.
Later, Q and Jewish Dave are fascinated with the wheels coming off of outspoken media-adjacent people’s careers. First we get into Mike Pesca’s pathological need to debate the use of ethnic slurs and his subsequent downfall. Then, we explore why Neera Tanden’s likely failure to get confirmed by the Senate has less to do with mean tweets and more to do with EpiPens.

Magic City Musk (Underground) feat. Alissa Walker

As part of the Great Miami Tech Migration of 2021, Mayor Francis Suarez in recent weeks has initiated interstellar communication with the Imaginary Iron Man, the original Space Karen and freshly minted Richest Dude On Earth, Elon Musk, to punch a bunch of holes in our city and uh, help… traffic? Cool.
We spoke with Alissa Walker from Curbed about the wisdom of boring enormous chambers through the porous limestone that makes up Miami, and what the environmental impact could look like for a region that is environmentally tenuous, at best.
