#13 - Penhale Bicycle Company
Andy Holmes is the "Chief Cook and Bottle Washer" at Penhale Bicycle Company—an independent frame builder of adventure bikes that allow riders to explore the world, or their own backyard. After his decades of riding and working in the bike industry, Andy aimed to design truly versatile machines. We talk about recovering from injuries, growing up in England, getting into bikes, moving to the U.S., bikepacking various routes, and ultimately how and why he decided to start Penhale. The new Grytstone frame is available for presale now, so be sure to check out their website for more information. — Penhale Bicycle Company Website: https://www.penhalebicycleco.com/ — Andy Holmes (Owner of Penhale Bicycle Co): https://www.instagram.com/penhalebicycleco/ — Trevor Hadfield (Ambassador at Penhale Bicycle Co): https://www.instagram.com/bikepackingtrev/ — Wheels of Our Lives (Michael, Natasia & Pepe): https://linktr.ee/wheelsofourlives — Bike, Camp & Chill Website: https://bikecampchill.com

#11 - Bikepacking the Apocalypse

We go Mad Max on this one! What would bikepacking look like in a post-apocalyptic world? Dallas talks with Michael and Al to entertain this thought and debate the best way to survive zombies (or a solar flare) on bikes. He also brings in the cyborg—ChatGPT—to see what AI thinks. Oh, boy.

#10 - Finding Your Line

Dallas talks with Alan House (aka Ugly Al) about a recent journal entry he wrote, and then shared, while up late one night. "The Line" may just be the rambling words of a mad man, but it is the perfect example of letting your mind go places, being curious, and seeing what wisdom can be found in the wild world of adventure cycling. Join the party and find your line.

#6 - Bullards Beach Campout

Something a little different! This may be a shorter episode than usual, but we were able to fit in a first attempt at a mini podcast recording during our recent campout at Bullards Beach State Park in Bandon, Oregon. Bandon Bicycle Works (a former bike shop in the area) organized a "backyard bike camping" overnighter to just go across town and demonstrate that bikepacking trips can be chill and easy. Not always a mountainous challenge. Dallas, Michael, and Al talk a bit about the ride, crack jokes, and then get surprised by an unexpected guest.

#4 - Starter Pack: Rigs (Part One)

This conversation is the first episode in our ongoing "Starter Pack" series, where all bike camping newcomers are welcome to the party. For this one, and the next one, we are discussing our reasoning behind the current bicycle rigs we use, wheel and tires setups, and what may be a good starting point for someone trying to get into their first bikepacking overnighter (or even a day-packing ride). Trips don't have to be anything crazy—it can be simple, basic, and close to home. You will still learn and have fun along the way. We hope you can find some helpful info, even if you've been riding for a bit. Join us as we nerd out!

#3 - Why We Love Adventure Cycling

The guys talk about their love for adventure cycling and how it can be as cool as you make it. Just have fun on a bicycle and take the time to explore your surroundings. Bikepacking races and gravel competitions are entertaining and inspiring, but adrenaline cycling isn't for everyone. We want to emphasize the idea that bike-chilling is available to all. Let's enjoy the entire journey to the finish line—whatever the means to you!
