Just a little mental model I like to walk myself through in times when I tell myself I'm "working my a** off." A lot of the time we are too hard on ourselves. Other times, we may give ourselves too much credit. You may be doing under the required amount of work and still letting yourself slip, by saying you're "working hard." This is just what I have found in my own experience.

This is how I was able to run 6 miles in less than a week. Simple formula, and I hope it leads me a lot farther than just 6 miles.
You should be scared of this, at least when it comes to success and the future of your life. It is not an actual death. But when we attach ourselves so heavily to an idea or belief system that is challenged, we then have a conceptual death.
