In 1978, Ralph Bakshi developed a moderately successful adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's THE LORD OF THE RINGS. Say what you want about the film, but it inspired more than its fair share of future dreamers, including, of all people, future filmmaker Peter Jackson.
