Episode #569! NYCC '25, The Frazetta Art Museum and New York! This week we are back talking about our trips to the east coast. While in Pennsylvania, DL (and wife) had the absolute pleasure of a guided tour of the Frazetta Art Museum from grandson Frankie Frazetta. After that he talks about his NYCC '25 experiences. Scott also had a trip to Pennsylvania, New Jersey and NYC the same week. He gives us the details of his trip which intersected with DL's. Check it out!     

Episode #568! Works by Carl Barks, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko! This episode we look at a number of books featuring the work of comic's top creators. Scott starts by bringing two very nice Vanguard sketchbooks to the table featuring John Romita and John Buscema.  DL has Ditko's Shorts from Craig Yoe. We also look at Fantagraphics' Complete Walt Disney's Donald Duck vol. #1, Donald Duck Finds Pirate Gold. Scott has two Jack Kirby collections from Pure Imagination. Plus plenty of extras! 

The Horror! The Horror!, Disneyland and Elric! The week Scott talks about his recent trip to Disneyland while visiting southern California. He also talks about scoring a hard to find book while on his trip. DL looks at the wonderfully gruesome book The Horror! The Horror! In his book Jim Trombetta examines 1950's pre-code horror comics with many examples of comics and covers. Check it out!

Episode #566! The Chilling Archives of Horror Comics, The Night Stalker and a Rebellion 2000AD Masterpiece Edition! This week we have four books to discuss. First up is the Mighty Marvel Calendar Book which reprints the seven Marvel calendars from the 70's and 80's. Scott has Tom Alvarez' How To Create Action, Fantasy and Adventure Comics. DL sheds some light on 50's horror artist Howard Nostrand with the The Chilling Archives of Horror Comics #8 Howard Nostrand's Nightmares. Scott also has two Hercules movies and a movie starring Laurel and Hardy. DL brings Cryptology magazine #2 featuring an 18 page article on Don Heck to the table. Plus extras!

Episode #564! The Greasy Strangler and The Green Slime! This week we talk about several movies we've watched recently. Scott talks about The Gamma One Sextet: The Green Slime and The Mask of Fu Manchu from the Hollywood Legends Of Horror collection. Episode #563! Jack Kirby bios, Cryptology and Kevin Smith in OKC! This week Scott tells us about the 1981 film Scanners. Kevin Smith was recently in OKC (without Jason Mewes). DL talks a little about the experience and what happened to Mewes. We also spotlight Cryptology issue #3 and a couple of Jack Kirby biographies. Check it out!   

Episode #562! The Illustrated History of Warren Magazines and Monster Zoo! This week Scott brings three works from Earthworm Jim creator Doug Tennapel to the table. While he touches on Creature Tech and Ratfist his focus is on his new acquisition Monster Zoo. Next up is The Book Palace's Illustrators Special #14. Loaded with photos, this square-bound 152 page magazine covers the rise and fall of the Warren line of magazines. Check this episode out!    

Episode #561! Foul Play!, Anatomy Drawing Class and Castle of Frankenstein! This week Scott has the very impressive book Anatomy Drawing Class by Rockhe Kim. He also talks about his recent Godzilla movie marathon (of sorts). And this week DL brings the book Foul Play! and the magazine Castle of Frankenstein #41 to the table to talk about the history of EC Comics. And The Art of John Byrne makes an appearance again. Episode #560! All video discussion! After a long hiatus, we are back with an all video discussion. Scott talks about two documentaries he has recently watched. Pee-Wee As Himself is the new doc about Paul Reubens' life as Pee-Wee Herman. From Darkness to Light explores the unreleased Jerry Lewis Nazi concentration camp film The Day The Clown Cried. Also this episode DL talks Star Wars with Andor/Rogue One and with the animated Clone Wars and the prequel films. Scott brings Kelly's Heroes and Coogan's Bluff starring Clint Eastwood to the podcast. Check it out!

Episode #557! The Sixth Gun and Pencils vs Pixels! This week we have a tale set in the old west. DL brings the fantasy/horror series The Sixth Gun by Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt to the table. Scott talks Disney documentaries and a book that charts the making of the animated film Aladdin. Check it out!  

Episode #556! El Fuego and Spider-man! This week we bring a few books to the table. First up we have an end of the world tale from writer, artist David Rubin. El Fuego tells the story of a gifted architect's attempt to create off world housing as a planet killing asteroid and his own personal problems come baring down. We also talk Spider-man with Forever Young and an essential. Plus we check out two new DC collected reprints from their compact and finest lines. Check it out! 

Episode #555! Blazing Combat and Atlanta! We are finally back with a new episode! Fresh off his trip to Atlanta, Scott tells us all about it and some shops he might have visited. In 1965, publisher Jim Warren and writer/editor Archie Goodwin produced Blazing Combat magazine. Each black and white issue was illustrated by the top comic book artists of the time including Wally Wood, Gene Colan, John Severin, Alex Toth, George Evans and Russ Heath. Although only four issues were completed, all featured covers painted by Frank Frazetta. We check out Fantagraphics' Blazing Combat HC which features each issue and interviews with Warren and Goodwin. Definitely check it out!

Episode #554! Daredevil Born Again! This week your hosts Scott Sackett and DLNelson are back with the new Disney+ show Daredevil: Born Again! After watching the first two episodes, they talk about the plot while breaking down individual scenes. The ending of original Netflix show is reviewed along with the original Born Again comics. Episode #553! The All American Art Cartooning, Bond and Mash! This week Scott brings two television programs to the pod. First he talks about an anniversary for TV's MASH then he tells us about House of David. DL brings two books from the '40's to the table. First up is Al Capp's The Life and Times of The Shmoo. Also, the Higgins Ink Co.'s magazine The All American Art Cartooning is examined. Plus Daredevil, Cap Brave New World and Bond. We will be keeping it real this episode.   

Episode #552! Bowling With Corpses, Brothers and Alien! This week DL brings two illustrated hardcovers to the table. Written and drawn by Mike Mignola, Bowling With Corpses is a collection of eight wonderful fantasy stories. Next is what could have been or more importantly what should have been. Aliens Book One written by Mark Verheiden with black and white art by Mark A. Nelson continues the story of Newt and Hicks years after the events of (the movie) Aliens. Scott brings Alex Van Halen's biography Brothers to the table and tells us about The Return of Godzilla. Check it out!  

Episode #551! Paul Smith's The Uncanny X-Men Artist's Edition and The Drifting Classroom! In 1962 Topps unleashed a trading card set like no other. Now from Abrams publishing is the Topps Mars Attacks 50th Anniversary Collection book which reproduced every card. Scott brings that book and the huge Paul Smith's The Uncanny X-Men Artist's Edition to the table. Also this week DL has Manga Ka Kazuo Umezz' horror masterpiece The Drifting Classroom!
