This week on Back & Forth, Dan, Will, and Vish sit down with Rob to unpack what really makes communication work in relationships.
From asking better questions to learning how to express emotions clearly, the group explores how small shifts in language can make a big difference when tensions rise. They talk about the power of swapping “why” for “what” to avoid defensiveness, and how addressing specific issues (rather than general frustrations) can help couples get to the heart of what’s really going on.
The conversation also dives into how counseling can create a safe space for understanding, giving partners the tools to navigate conflict with empathy and patience. Together, they reflect on the role of emotional intelligence in building stronger, healthier relationships and how open, honest communication can turn difficult moments into opportunities for growth.
It’s a thoughtful, grounded discussion about connection, clarity, and the ongoing work of truly hearing — and being heard by — the people we care about.
