On this special edition, Nicky is back, and the conversation takes a few twists and turns as we unpack the trend for 'lived experience' as incidental learning that boosts structured training, how mind potentialities are the way we think and not a weakness and why Nicky got told she has a saggy pelvis. We encourage the idea of why you need to 'wilfully put yourself though shit' to become a better leader and poke fun at ourselves in the distraction.

What happens when you get your dream job, love the life and then the plane crashes, literally. This week's guest Nini Tolson, life coach and business woman, lost her job, her dream, herself and her home. Surviving a plane crash wasn't the end of the trauma for Nini. Two years of rehabilitation and her pregnancy finished her dream job as a flight attendant. She spiralled into a dark emotion space, lost herself and her identity. When a doctor told her she had to find a way back or lose her child she made the decision to fight. Navigating a cultural nonacceptance of recognising mental health, moving countries, going broke, moving again and finding success are all part of her story. Nini leaves nothing on the shelf in this podcast. Raw and very real, she explores being a woman who lost everything and how she now uses that experiences to build other women up. This podcast discusses suicidal ideation and listener discretion is advised.

This week's guest, Mark Thomas loved his career in the Police Force. Strong, capable and altruistic, it wasn't until late in his career as his mental health dived into a very dark place, he realised the impact of the cumulative effect of trauma in the line of duty. It became clear after his own diagnosis of PTSD that support for first responders suffering with PTSD and their families was difficult to find. Mark Thomas, the founder of Code 9, truly felt that he was on his own in his fight and wanted to build a safe space to show others that they are never alone. What he did was create a safe place for first responders to talk, seek help and understand the need for self care and mental health initiatives. This episode contains discussion on suicidality and listener discretion is advised.

This week's award winning guest Darcy Luoma, has travelled a varied life. Running a Senator's office in America, you would imagine navigating the political landscape was hard enough. Yet one of the biggest challenges was when her husband was incarceration for a sexual assault case against a minor. Breaking down and giving up was not an option for her or her young daughters, so she relied on what she knows best: coaching. Her book Thoughtfully Fit is an inspiration on how to survive and thrive in life, despite what challenges are thrown in your direction.

This week's guest Terry. B. McDougall is a biz and life coach, speaker, author and podcaster. She joins us to talk about post traumatic growth. By 11 she had moved to as many schools as her hard working young parents did all they could to get a start in life. Loss and starting again themed her life. From this she learnt having no choice can bring strengths to the surface, like courage. She inherited the strong work ethics of her parents, the art of adaptability and power of observation.

Terry was a fast learner of people skills and self sufficiency. We talk on how trust is impacted in the face of constant change, how she coped with loss of connections each time she moved and the evolution of her work, 'Success but not satisfied. Her book Winning the Game of Work is a powerful coaching tool. You can find Terry at https://terrybmcdougall.com/

Michael Seaver came from a conflicted childhood , through a divorce and emerged with a new sense of freedom to move beyond the mainstream of his family's lifestyles and into a life helping others. Stumbling into coaching as a natural, he anchors his attitude in true authenticity. A brush with suicidality and a deep understanding on how to look after yourself when you are so busy looking after others has changed Michael's life, and as Sarah said to become a zen god. His book I Know is a must for all those searching for their own answers.

This weeks guest on Aware is a thought leader and generator for the future. Louise Broekman launched a software HR product, a little early for the market and after some cheap red wine and deciding to sell everything to make it work, found success with a new product. Along the way she drew together a team of advisors to help her limit those misjudged moments. An incidental conversation made her ask, "What does good look like? What is a good decision?" This train of thought inspired her to commit to a 100 year business goal to change the sector of governance, boards and advisory groups. In de-risking her life she found the bravery to follow a dream. She inspired us to train at the ABC and continues to deliver inspiration gems of wisdom.

These were severely disrupted with the arrival of motherhood and the tragic suicide of her brother. A happy and seemingly well man, new to fatherhood and about to get married. From her own struggle to cope, a shift from the Performing Arts career she had and a movement to counselling, Tania is open, raw and brutally honest about her own journey to come to terms with her brothers suicide, the mental health impact it had on her and her slow climb out of despair to discover who she really was.
