There's a reason this podcast was a daily podcast. There's just too much to talk and think about since the last episode. I hope y'all have been questioning the system, fighting inequity, and trying to create a better future. Enjoy this extra long catch-up episode :-)
Long time no see, y'all!! I recorded this back on Juneteenth, and originally didn't release it because I thought I was too upset and too vulnerable when recording. Well you know what... Here it is: Episode 31
WHOOOO-Doggy y'all! This is one gets a little wild when Cousin JED (from ep. 14) interrupts the podcast yelling "all lives matter!"
Laugh along with the hypocrisies of Cousin JED in this celebratory 30th Episode.
Acknowledging that black people have been discriminated against DOES NOT INVALIDATE YOUR STRUGGLES AS A WHITE PERSON.
It simply means that we are talking about extra struggles that people of color have dealt with because of systemic racism.
If you feel uncomfortable and sick right now, GOOD. I'm glad you're listening and empathetic.
Fellow white folk...
Call out injustice. Challenge racist viewpoints. Have difficult conversations with friends, family, and neighbors. This is how you can help daily. #BlackLivesMatter #SayItAnyway
I'm sad, worried, empathetic, and upset.
I encourage my white friends to listen to this episode as a way of understanding a little more about why we use the phrase "Black Lives Matter" instead of "all lives matter" .... Join me in being an ally. #BlackLivesMatter
When was the last time you looked back at what life truly looked like in middle school or high school? It's so normal to have thousands of photos and videos of every week, day, moment... but not back in 2002!
Enjoy this actual brand new episode of Avoidance Issues where we speculate what life will be like for my 1-year-old nephew in 2037 when he's 18.
Too often do people get used for their love, attention, time, money, and effort. It gets to the point where people believe they are not valuable, but that's simply not true.
Y'all deserve to feel valuable!
BUUUUULLLLLSSSS!!! There's no growing up in Chicagoland in the 90's without the Bulls. It's interesting how much basketball and that team shaped me.
Do y'all think we put too much emphasis on the importance sports? 🤔
Listen, y'all... sometimes you don't know what to say, but you're just in a better mood.
This episode is a palate cleanser from the last one. Thanks for sticking with me!
This is another heavy one, y'all!
If you're looking to get into worries of self-worth, imposter syndrome, and facing the fact that it's hard to take your own advice, then please by all means enjoy this episode! 😢
If you're looking to laugh, check out Ep. 6 & 14 😊
Listen... there is no rule saying that I have to be happy when recording a podcast for you, but knowing you're listening does make me happy... so thank you! lol
Get ready for an honest one, y'all! 😬
Cash rules everything around me! C.R.E.A.M.
Think about just how often money has determined how you lived, ate, felt, and behaved. Yes, we need something to strive for, but we don't need to fear our own well-being and safety in order to try.
Enjoy my money rant, y'all!
You ever think we have too much time to think? 🤔 Me too!
Here's the article and News clip I reference in this episode 😃
Hey y'all! You caught me in a good mood during this recording.
Notice how you can hear it in my voice, but at the same time I try to fight it! 🤦♂️
It's hard to hold back sometimes, y'all. This weather and quarantine is getting to me.
I hope you can relate... but also hope that you don't and everything is just fine and dandy :-)
The sheer amount of talking, connecting, entertainment, and perspective I need to get through a day is astounding. Human beings are the most complicated of the animals... and that's including the Platypus & Aardvark.
Be calm and listen on!
Enjoy 😊
WHOOOO DOGGY! This episode is a wild one! Cousin JED (Joshua Edward Daniel) shows up unannounced to talk about the government, wearin' masks, and his new jug band.
Take a listen, Y'all!
Happy Taco Titty Tuesday everyone! 🌮📆
Please celebrate life, guacamole, and overthinking.... just don't call the cops on me for sitting in my car.
