Those who champion the Expertise Tradition generally hold a positivist worldview, meaning they believe we can pursue truth through scientific means, with experts acting as the "guardians of truth." Their knowledge, built on years of education and practicalexperience, is seen as absolutely paramount for successful coaching.

Coaching theory is essential for both human coaches and AI systems to ensure effective and ethical practice. Current AI models, often trained on a limited set of goal-oriented theories, lack the nuance, adaptability, and deep relational capacity of human coaches. This begs for an explicit definition and of the theoretical landscape that informs AI coaching development.
