"Don't Do it for the Applause," Tiara Davis '14

Hey Friends,

I couldn’t wait to tell y’all this story because I’m so proud of how far I’ve come with my lessons!

So here’s the thing. I’m used to being super good at dance classes! Like really good. In undergrad my friends and I took dance very seriously. Sometimes I look back on the dance pieces and think man we were really something.

I say all that to say, dance comes really easy to me.

So I thought!

"It's a Process of Elimination," Valerie Robideaux '03, Director of First Year Advising and Success

Hey Friends!

I few hours ago I met with one of my students for an interview regarding professional development and discovering your passions.

I wanted her to understand that we are forever on a journey to discover our passions and figuring out what will become of our life. There is no one answer. It’s ever changing and every evolving. The passions you have in undergrad are likely to shift once you occupy those positions as a professional.

Stay tuned to learn more.

"I didn't have a relationships with Money," Tracey Johnson '03, Just Finance

Hey Squad,

In college, we spend a lot of time selecting a major, choosing an advisor, applying for internships and study abroad programs. But I don’t remember expending the same amount of effort understanding the financials behind loans and credit cards.

I do remember one conversation. And it taught me a valuable lesson.

Speak Up, Tiara Davis' 14

Listen. I shared this story to encourage you to use your voice in a way that makes sense for your life. An unpaid internship might be the experience that you need. I don’t know what what you need professionally or academically. You do. Flex the muscle and speak up.

Real talk. It’s hella scary.

And finally Our name has changed to AskanALUM the podcast where I ask former undergraduate students about all things adulting.
