Icebreaker Because This is a Hard Topic
“When was a time you realized your faith didn’t look like it used to? What changed?”
Or:
“What word comes to mind when you hear ‘deconstruction’?”
* Encourage openness. This sets the tone that doubt and curiosity are welcome here.
If using your Anchored Truth episode, recap key points such as:
Deconstruction often starts with disappointment, church hurt, or unanswered questions.
It can be dangerous when truth is replaced with personal preference.
Healthy wrestling with faith (like the Psalms, Job, Thomas) is different from rejecting truth.
God invites honest questions but calls us to rebuild on His Word, not our feelings.
Scripture focus: Matthew 7:24–27 — “The Wise and Foolish Builders”
finding perspective in God’s presence.
Group Reflection:
1. What do these passages show about how God responds to doubt?
2. How can we distinguish healthy questioning from walking away from truth?
3. What helps us stay anchored when everything feels uncertain?
4. What experiences have shaken your faith or made you question what you believe?
5. What are some common reasons people deconstruct their faith today?
6. How can the church respond with both truth and compassion?
7. What are the dangers of rebuilding faith on emotion, culture, or opinion instead of Scripture?
8. How can we help someone who’s deconstructing without being judgmental or dismissive?
9. What does it look like to rebuild a mature, resilient faith in this season of life?
10. What is your walkaway from this lesson?

Session 2: Spiritual Tools for Fighting Fear
Key Scripture for This Session
Psalm 91
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”

Session 2: Spiritual Tools for Fighting Fear
If you haven’t watched Session 1 & 2, I encourage you to go back and listen! If you can’t, here’s a quick refresher. In Session One, we talked about how fear and anxiety are unavoidable in life, but we must make sure they don’t become strongholds in our spirits. We reviewed ways to identity if our fear/anxiety has become a stronghold and touched on the phrase “even if.” Even if God chooses to not answer our prayers in the way we want, we will fear not. Session Two was on spiritual tools we can use to thwart Satan's attack on us. We talked about praise and worship music, clinging to the word, keeping a faith journal and facing the dreaded "even if."
Key Scripture for This Session
Luke 12:27-28 “"Consider how the lilies grow: they neither toil nor spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, you of little faith!"

FOR FEAR AND ANXIETY STUDY/CONTENT GUIDE GO TO:
Choosing Him is so excited to introduce our new podcast, Anchored Truth! We have realized our listeners are craving teaching podcasts that tackle tough issues facing Christians today. In addition to opening our Biblical Counseling Center, we now are releasing a podcast that will help listeners navigate life's complicated situations in a biblical way!
This week we are focusing on introducing our new brand and diving into the myths Christians may have about therapy!
Have questions or suggestions of topics?
Emilee is an OG of Act 2 and we were so excited to catch up with her! This week, Emilee is sharing the call God placed on her heart to open a Pioneer Youth, a local youth center in Hogansville! Hearing the impact her obedience has made on her local community is inspiring!

This week, Act 2 talks with Katheryn Bennett as she shares her journey through cancer, herself AND her daughter. Her God story reflects how God is with us and can handle our hard questions and disappointments! Her raw and real thoughts are things we have all thought or said at one point in our lives. Her story shows us how God never leaves us, even when we are angry with Him.
This week, we are honored to talk with Carol Stewart. Carol's daughter, McKinley, was still born 28 years ago and Carol is opening up for the first time to talk to us about her experience and how God showed up for her through the entire experience.
I think the biggest walk away from her words is that we may not always understand why God allows loss in our lives, but we must continue to turn to Him in our grief.
Need to talk to someone about a loss you've experience?
Jacqui Robertson is a wonderful example of how every testimony is a chance to share what God has done for you in order to encourage others! Having been saved since she was a child, Jacqui was a little worried she didn’t have a dynamic testimony. I think a lot of us who were raised in the church and saved at an early age can relate! But to hear how God has woven Himself in her life is a beautiful example of how we all can see His hand if we step back for a moment and look!
