Sarah only completed the 12 month competencies as we launched with HDFT when she was 8 months into post but still saw incredible benefits to her practice - especially the observed practice element. James, Rotational Physiotherapist from HCRG talks about the struggles of being newly qualified and how Preceptorship remained as a constant for him whilst rotating. James opens up about the particular time where he was questioning whether he wanted to be a Physio due to certain struggles. He reflects on his Preceptorship sign-off how far he has come, how his mindset has now changed and how Preceptorship had a big part to play in that journey. James is now training to become a CSP Steward!
We invited Kaego, a Dietitian from Darenth Valley Hospital (Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust) to talk about her experience with Preceptorship. Kaego started in the private sector as a Newly Qualified and transitioned into the NHS after 1 year. We supported her through Preceptorship and tailored the programme to suit her needs as she was further along in her career. Kaego talks about her positive experience and how it provided her with a smooth transition into the NHS!
In this episode we talk to Tara (Preceptee) and Louise (Preceptor) about their first experience with Preceptorship! Tara qualified in Europe, came to the UK, started as a Band 4 therapy assistant at Oxleas and her team utilised the Preceptorship programme to support her through a Band 5 to 6 development post. Louise, preceptor, new to the programme, reflects on how it felt like a holistic approach to support. Happy listening!
