Afternoons with Joon
An Afternoon with Kevin Exconde (Part 1)

I realized that I needed to begin engaging in conversations with people to further refine ideas and to spur new ones. Today we're joined by one of my favourite newer creators on YouTube, Kevin Exconde. He's got an infectious and hilarious personality. Heavy emphasis on family and authenticity in this first part. Hope you enjoy!

Topics:

Where does independence come from?

What happens when your family is going through a difficult time?

Flaws vs Things to Improve on

Why might people be so resistant to change?

Wanting to be alone

Is there fake authenticity out there?

How much do you share online?

How to be yourself

How we're shaped by family

Et cetera.

A Reminder to Stay Disciplined

Today I realized that my desk and my room look like shit. Finally have a little breather in between projects so I knew I had to make something. Had to remind myself to stay disciplined and just get something done. Hope you all stay the course and continue to remind yourselves of your priorities.

Afternoons with Joon
Moral Reasoning and How It Applies to Black Lives Matter

In this video, we're going to be talking about moral reasoning and how it applies to being anti-racist moving forward.  Why moral reasoning? These issues aren't just cognitive in nature. In the article we're going to be using today for our discussion, it says that people often have a logical & cognitive developmental stage that is higher than the corresponding moral stage. If you let that sink in, I think there's a clear connection to a lot of modern day arguments.  I strongly believe that if we can elevate discourse and societal structures to operate at a higher moral reasoning stage, then a lot of issues will sort themselves out. Tone policing, logical fallacies, reliance on poor data or from peer pressure, perhaps even racism, can ultimately be eradicated if we work to incorporate this throughout our lives.

Article:  Kohlberg, L., & Wasserman, E. R. (1980). The cognitive-developmental approach and the practising counselor: An opportunity for counselors to rethink their roles. The Personnel and Guidance Journal, 58(9), 559-567.
