EP 140 | The perfectionism of the longing cycle

In this episode, I dig into the perfectionism that keeps so many of us in the cycle of waiting, hoping, and building up the longing for the perfect moment… only to freeze when the moment finally arrives.


You know that thing you’ve been dreaming about doing (the quiet solo coffee, that creative project, the time to just be?) This episode explores why it can feel easier to long for it than to actually do it.


And I share why disappointment doesn’t mean you’ve failed, it’s just part of the process.


This is something that has come up with a lot of my clients recently, so this is how I’ve coached them through it, and I hope it helps you too.


In this episode, you’ll learn:


- Why your brain keeps you stuck in the “if only…” loop

- What’s really underneath the pressure you put on solo time or hobbies

- How to spot if perfectionism is stopping you from taking action

- What to do when fear of disappointment holds you back

- A gentler, more sustainable way to get what you’re longing for


So if that is you and you find yourself sitting in the longing cycle and you find yourself stopping from taking action, just recognise that maybe just, maybe it is your brain keeping you safe, because it feels easier to sit in the longing than it does to feel the disappointment or the discouragement of taking action and it not being.
