In this heartfelt and thought-provoking podcast, we dive deep into the overlooked crisis of loneliness among the elderly. It’s not just a lack of companionship—it’s a profound emotional and spiritual deprivation that affects millions. In pt. 2 of this discussion, I explore the causes of social isolation in older adults, its profound impact on health and well-being, and the ways we can all make a difference.
I also Welcomed, Liletta Harlem, the Executive Director of Dementia Caregiver Support Program to the show. Liletta shares her experience of caring for an aging parent and what that experience has been like, as she herself also navigates Loneliness due to life changes. Going from the child to the caregiver, can be a very taxing transition.
Join us as we shed light on this hidden epidemic and explore how, together, we can restore warmth, meaning, and purpose to the lives of those who have given so much. Because loneliness in the elderly is more than just solitude; it’s a poverty of the spirit. Let’s start the conversation.
