A Lot To Talk About
#291 - Allowing yourself to want something that feels unattainable | Olympic Gold Medalist Saya Sakakibara.

Saya Sakakibara is an Olympic gold medalist in BMX racing.

At Paris 2024, Saya's story of Olympic triumph captured the nation as she was embraced by her brother Kai who just 4 years prior had a devastating BMX accident while racing at a world cup event. Kai was left with a traumatic brain injury that threatened his life and left the Sakikabara family clinging onto hope.

The incident inspired Saya to pursue the olympic dream for the both of them at Tokyo in 2021 where adversity reared its ugly head and left her with a troubling concussion of her own. Self doubt, fear and uncertainty riddled Saya and nearly saw her leave the sport forever, but she fought back.

Saya's new book 'Just Go' is an incredible story of overcoming adversity and facing fear head on. She joined me on the podcast for a conversation about it all.

#288 - 'If I didn't find a new purpose on time, anorexia would have killed me.' | Kate Reid.

Kate Reid is the founder and co-owner of 'Lune'. Lune is the croissanterie responsible for what some of the worlds most esteemed food critics believe could just be the best pastry the world has ever tasted.

Whilst her obsessive nature that she describes as both her greatest strength and weakness, made a compelling argument for Kate's inevitable success in life, her early devotion to the world of aerospace engineering and a job as the only female working in a technical capacity at Williams Racing in the highly competitive world of Formula 1 are a far cry from the world which now occupies her attention.

A big believer that there is more than one way to get where you are going, Kate's story is a rollercoaster of emotions and challenges that nearly killed her amidst a terrifying experience with anorexia and depression. So how did she get here? Well for that answer my friend, you may just have to watch and listen.
