Chester the musician cannot play music on his inherited flute; instead, it plays food that corresponds to the notes and pitch he tries to play—high notes are grapes, low notes are jelly rolls. After realizing the flute plays what he thinks about, he uses his unusual talent to play a grand, edible feast for the hungry audience at the town concert.

Vinnie, a high-tech vacuum cleaner invented by Professor Quibble, was accidentally programmed with an old theatre script. As a result, Vinnie performs his cleaning duties with extreme, unnecessary dramatic flair, constantly lamenting the dust and turning simple tasks, like retrieving keys, into a tragic monologue, much to the annoyance of the house cat, Mittens, and the amusement of the Professor.

Penelope, a collector of oddities, discovers a polka-dot pineapple in her ordinary garden. Her neighbor, Mr. Splinter, is predictably horrified. The pineapple begins to hum, and Penelope discovers it is actually a small, confused robot scout from a distant planet, who chose the pineapple disguise after misinterpreting the mission instructions to blend in with exotic flora.

Spencer the squirrel wakes up one morning and finds that he can only speak in strange, sideways squeaks, whistles, and honks. He visits Professor Algernon, a wise tortoise, who diagnoses the problem as "Vocal-Shift-i-cus Nutterus" and prescribes a cure: eating a straight pine needle, a flat pancake, and performing a perfectly straight yawn. Spencer successfully completes the task and is able to speak normally again.

Ms. Juniper, a librarian and secret detective, must solve the case of the missing Story Whisperer, a magical creature that brings books to life. She discovers the whisperer, Pipkin, has left to find a "real" adventure but is struggling to whisper to new, grander books. Ms. Juniper helps him realize that the best adventures are already waiting for him in the library.

A scarecrow named Stanley is terrible at his job because he is too friendly. Instead of scaring the birds away, he befriends them, which frustrates the farmer, Ms. Penny. However, when Stanley helps a crow with a problem, Ms. Penny realizes he isn't a failure but a special kind of protector.

Oliver the otter is convinced he is a porcelain teapot named Steamer, complete with a spout (his nose) and a handle (his tail). He meets a glum fox named Finn who has lost an antique teapot and volunteers to take its place at a garden party. While floating in the birdbath, Oliver sneezes, and the spray of water perfectly waters a daisy pot, convincing everyone that he is the most useful teapot they've ever seen. Oliver is content to return to being an otter, mostly.

Duncan the dragon is distressed to find that his entire hoard of white, puffy dandelions is missing. A clue from Clara the chicken leads him to Sheldon the sheep, whose wool is completely covered in the seeds. Sheldon explains he thought the dandelions were a gift from the wind. Duncan, unable to stay mad, laughs and watches as Sheldon shakes them off, creating a beautiful, twinkling cloud.

Rufus the badger uses an enormous, red rubber boot as a comfortable armchair. When his neighbor, Esmeralda the mouse, frantically searches for her rainbow-striped knitting yarn, Rufus discovers that a bewildered beetle named Chester has been using the boot's toe as a quiet crafting corner and the yarn to knit a tiny cocoon. Esmeralda gets her yarn back, and Chester gets to keep his small, newly-knitted rainbow mittens.

Captain Coral, a land-crab with a stylish eye-patch and a unique clam-shell compass that points only to the best seaweed salad, sets out on an adventure. When the compass points to her nervous crewmate, Sheldon, they realize it's because he has a piece of green algae on his antenna. Sheldon is declared the temporary "North Pole" until the compass finds a soggy lettuce leaf—the true salad—proving that even in adventure, snacks are paramount.

Mister Montgomery the mouse loses his beloved, tiny moonbeam and searches for it frantically. His search leads him to a grumpy badger named Old Man Tiberius, a sleepy owl named Olivia, and finally to Percy the magpie, who was using the moonbeam as a stirring spoon for his invisible mud tea. Montgomery successfully gets his treasure back in exchange for a shiny bottle cap.

Polly the parrot is shocked to discover that two peanuts in her bowl, named Chester and Chatty, can talk and are planning a daring escape to the jungle. The peanuts dream of riding a wild jungle squirrel. Polly, being resourceful, offers them a thrilling alternative: a short, exciting ride on her very gentle, fluffy house cat, Whiskers. The peanuts return to the bowl happy and decide that domestic adventure is much safer and more enjoyable.

Chester the bear decides to become a fancy bear and chooses a hollowed-out watermelon rind for his hat. On his way to the Forest Feast, he helps his friend Milton the mole, whose plums are rolling out of his basket. Chester cleverly uses his watermelon hat as a perfect, striped bowl to carry the plums. At the feast, he serves the plums from his hat, earning praise for his creativity and usefulness.

Peter the puffin, a messy artist who loves to paint his beak, runs out of his finest midnight-blue paint while attempting a checkerboard pattern. His search for the color is unsuccessful, but upon returning home, he accidentally bumps his beak into a bluebell. The flower leaves a perfect, deep-blue spot of pollen-paste on his beak, which he declares a new, magnificent style called the “Bluebell Beak Spot.”

Amelia the adventurous albatross is circumnavigating the world on her oversized, excessively buoyant, and playful rubber duck named Horatio. Horatio refuses to take their journey seriously and mostly just spins in circles and squeaks. They encounter Captain Salty, a grizzled sea lion trying to teach his sea pups about proper maritime demeanor. Horatio giggles and sprays the Captain, leading to a confrontation about the duck's disrespectful cheerfulness. Amelia quickly steers the duck away.

Reginald the refined rhino is distraught when his highly exclusive jar of Dijon mustard goes missing right before his 3:00 PM snack. He suspects everyone and everything, but his wise woodchuck friend, Wilhelmina, instructs him to check his reflection. Reginald discovers the missing mustard jar clinging perfectly to his own left horn, realizing he had absent-mindedly used it as a hat-rack while pouring his tea. He then enjoys his snack and resolves to keep his horns majestic.

Penelope the piglet loves her small, perfectly messy puddle, which is located right next to the prize-winning rose bushes of Esmeralda the exceptionally tidy sheep. Esmeralda despises the puddle and attempts to move it while Penelope is away. She fails spectacularly, only managing to get herself completely covered in mud. Penelope returns and finds Esmeralda defeated, who finally admits that puddles cannot be tidied. Penelope happily jumps back into her beloved, messy puddle.

Constance the cat is mystified by a rare "rolling rainbow" that knocks over her plant and heads toward the home of Professor Fitzwilliam, a slightly mad inventor who lives in a submarine in a meadow. The professor reveals that the rainbow is actually his "Instant Color-Stripe-and-Sunbeam-Dispenser," which is a gigantic, over-dyed, rolling canvas tarp that he can't reel in because it's too heavy. Constance suggests hosing off the ten layers of paint, which works, and the professor learns a lesson about simplicity.

Clive the crocodile dreams of being an oboist, but his antique oboe, Octavius, only produces a horrible "SQUONK!" sound. His tiny, sensible turtle neighbor, Agnes, investigates and discovers a very small, dusty acorn jammed inside the bell of the instrument. Clive realizes he must have stored his snack there for safekeeping. Once the acorn is removed, Octavius plays a beautiful note, and Clive resolves to keep his snacks away from his music.

Oscar the owl is a lighthouse keeper who loves everything about the job except the bright light, which prevents him from reading his favorite novels. During a dense fog, his friend Wallace the whale frantically calls for him to turn on the light. Oscar reluctantly turns it on, but finding it too bright for reading, he drapes his large, black velvet cape over the lamp, reducing the beam to a dim, subtle glow. Wallace complains that the light looks like a sleepy firefly, but accepts it and swims away, while Oscar happily resumes reading.
