This week, Rev Dr William Chang reminded us that the heart is deceitful (Jeremiah 17:9) and can bring destruction from within, often more than any external threat. Even after returning from exile, the Jews once again oppressed the weak and needy among them. Nehemiah confronted this injustice with righteous anger and godly fear. Yet despite their confessions, Nehemiah 13 reveals that many hearts remained unchanged. What about us today? God calls us to repent, confess our sins, and fix our hearts first—to rebuild the broken walls in our lives.

This week, we reflect on Jesus’ promise of the Holy Spirit — the One sent to guide us into all truth and to glorify Christ. Though Jesus would soon leave His disciples, He assured them that His departure was for their benefit. In His place, the Helper would come: not a distant force, but a constant and personal presence, dwelling in us, helping us in our weakness, and making Jesus real and glorious to us each day.
The Spirit never points to Himself, but always leads us to see Jesus, know Jesus, and live for Jesus.
