Ep. 87 - Clowns...not Fans
This is a bit of a different episode. I have always enjoyed talking about the politics of football, the behavior (or lack thereof) that it inspires in its fanbase, and well the good, the bad, and the ugly of football. We saw quite a bit of ugly this past weekend at the Madrid Derby and once again it was against Atlético Madrid and a sector of their fanbase that really should not be allowed to be a part of football. Sure, I have a bias towards Real Madrid BUT stupid behavior is stupid behavior no matter who is doing it. In this episode, I give my thoughts on the Real Madrid derby, Frente Atlético, ultra fan groups—who are really clowns...not fans—and I also talk a bit about football as well. I like a good conversation, a good debate, and a bit of drama here and there. So I have to say I liked this podcast because well I spoke from the heart. Football should be about football. Some banter is fine. Heated rivalries are good. But violence, racism, etc...are not. That is not football. Ep. 86 - Lacking Cohesion
Real Madrid faced off against VfB Stuttgart to open their 2024-2025 UEFA Champions League campaign. It was a nervy game that saw Los Blancos suffering from the same problems that have been affecting them since the beginning of the season. While the star-studded attack of Vinicius, Mbappé, and Rodrygo shows flashes of breakneck speed, skill, and firepower...it still seems disjointed. Jude Bellingham's return added a bit more creativity and stability to the midfield but the entire team still lacks cohesion. The growing pains continue BUT Real Madrid was still able to beat Stuttgart 3-1 and start off their title defense with a win. In this episode of the podcast we talk about Real Madrid's difficult win over Real Sociedad, their recent win against Stuttgart and the continued controversy surrounding Vini Jr, where it seems the Spanish press, antimadridistas, and even some Real Madrid fans just can't seem to set their prejudices aside and prefer to stir up drama about every comment and/or gesture he makes. Ep. 85 - Wait and See
Going into this past weekend's match against Real Betis there were a lot of nerves and worries about Real Madrid's recent performances, their lack of cohesion in attack, the stability of the dressing room, and of course what Los Blancos' would do to fill the giant Teutonic gap in the midfield left by the one and only Toni Kroos. Some of the concerns and nerves surrounding Real Madrid these past few weeks have, as always, been driven by the Spanish press and Real Madrid's very reactionary and often unforgiving fanbase. Real Madrid must always win. They can't draw, let alone lose, and because of the arrival of Kylian Mbappé they are expected to win by large often insulting margins. But the reality has been far from that, so the press, Real Madrid fans, and anti-Madrid fans had their knives out. Even though Real Madrid still hadn't lost a game, two draws and one win were far from ideal and the match against Real Betis was given monumental importance, even if it was only Real Madrid's 4th game of the season. Real Madrid looked better on the pitch. They are still far from a finished product but Ceballos brought an added stability to the midfield that was absent previously. And Fede Valverde, Kroos' heir apparent in both number and responsibility, took it upon himself to drive Real Madrid forward with his never ending gas tank, pace, and grit. Mbappé, Vinicius, and Rodrygo seemed to be much more cohesive...and the Frenchman finally got not one but two goals to open his LaLiga tally. The first goal by Mbappe was the product of a diagonal Rodrygo run and a masterful back heel pass from Valverde. Mbappé's second goal came from the penalty spot after Vinicius was taken down in the box. And instead of taking on the responsibility himself Vinicius gave the chance to Mbappé. He scored and all was right in the Kingdom of Real Madrid once again...at least for now. This victory won't calm the sharks that are currently circling Real Madrid waiting to tear them apart with criticism should they slip up. But with the team on a short hiatus due to the international break, this victory provided the right amount of chum to calm the feeding frenzy for a bit. All we can do now is wait and see what will happen once Los Blancos return from the international break. But it seems like Real Madrid is slowly but surely finding their form. And when they do...the goals will continue to come. Check out this week's episode the Y Nada Mas podcast on YouTube or wherever your listen to your favorite podcasts. Ep. 84 - Growing Pains
Real Madrid secured all 3 points against Real Valladolid but the team still looks a bit disjointed and far from the completed product a lot of Madridistas know and hope it will be this season. Many were expecting to Mbappé score his first LaLiga goal at the Santiago Bernabeu but were left wanting. However, it was Real Madrid's other new signing, 18-year old Brazilian wunderkind Endrick who scored the goal that completed Los Blancos' 3-0 win over their opponents from northwestern Spain. In this episode, we discuss the slight growing pains Real Madrid is going through as they try to bring out Kylian Mbappé's best while also finding balance in a team full of talented players looking to make their mark. Ep. 83 - Real Madrid is Back and So Are We!
It's been 9 months since we last did a podcast and a lot has happened! A 15th UCL title, a 36th LaLiga title, and a recent UEFA Super Cup win over Atalanta. Toni Kroos, Joselu, and Nacho have said farewell to the club and Kylian Mbappé has FINALLY arrived. A new season is upon us, both for Real Madrid and for the Y Nada Mas podcast. We're back and what a time to come back. In this episode, we discuss Real Madrid's draw with Mallorca. A disappointing start considering all eyes were on Real Madrid since it was Kylian Mbappé's debut. However, it's much to early to draw any conclusions from this game or begin calling for anyone's head. The team will need to find a formation that works, figure out who will fill the giant gap in midfield left by the legendary Toni Kroos, and continue to build chemistry with our newest marquee signing. With a little fine tuning, Real Madrid will no doubt continue to be the favorite to defend their LaLiga title as well as compete in all competitions. Ep. 82 - On We Go
After a lackluster performance versus Rayo Vallecano over the weekend that resulted in a dull 0-0 draw, Los Blancos showed up versus Portugal's SC Braga in their UCL tie and not only scored 3 great goals but also looked good doing it. With this latest win, Real Madrid has secured their ticked to the knockout stage so on we go to the Round of 16. Carlo Ancelotti made quite a few changes to the Starting XI that had faced Rayo at the Bernabeu over the weekend. Brahim Diaz stepped in for Jude Bellingham, Lucas Vasquez slotted into right back in place of Dani Carvajal, and Rodrygo was back in the attack in place of Joselu. Brahim opened up the scoring, Vinicius made it 2-0 with a great strike, and finally, Rodrygo scored a much-needed goal that was not only a beauty but will surely also boost his confidence again in front of goal. Both Vini and Rodrygo, who have not been at their best in La Liga, looked solid in attack and seemed to once again find the swagger that made them a nightmare for opposing defenders. In this episode, we discuss Real Madrid's performance versus Rayo, their subsequent improvement versus Braga, and we also discuss Brahim Diaz, Ancelotti's coaching choices, and why I have grown somewhat tired of Vini Jr.'s occasional but justified whining in La Liga. Ep. 81 - A Legend in the Making
At this point in the 2023-24 season, if you overhear football fans talking about an amazing Real Madrid player doing amazing things, scoring last-minute goals, and hoisting the team on his back to pull them over the finish line...you would probably know that the player they are speaking about is Jude Bellingham. At 20 years old, he is, without a doubt a Real Madrid legend in the making. Pundits and journalists worldwide, whether they are sitting behind a laptop in Kolkata, a newsdesk in London, or a TV studio in Connecticut, have already pretty much agreed that the words and the adjectives used to describe what Jude Bellingham has done so far in his first season at Real Madrid are starting to run out. He hasn't just defied expectations, he has grabbed them, slapped them around a bit, and confidently stared them down while saying, "Is that all you got?". He was already making jaws drop and shutting up rival fans before this weekend's El Clásico. But one right-footed rocket from outside Barcelona's box to score the equalizing goal will now make him part of highlight reels for years to come and an indelible part of Real Madrid's history. And the best part about his performance against Barcelona this past Saturday was that it wasn't even his best game. But like other world-class players that have come before him at this historic club, one moment and a sliver of space is all they need to turn a game on its head. In this episode, we discuss Real Madrid's win over Barcelona in El Clásico and we of course talk about the one man that made all the difference. "Hey, Jude!" Ep. 80 - Next Up, El Clásico
Once again, the time has come for two of the world's biggest football rivals to face off against one another. Real Madrid, who are coming off a draw against Sevilla in the Sanchez Pizjuan and a UCL Group Stage victory over Braga in Portugal, will now prepare to battle their bitter rivals from Northeastern Spain. Yes. That's right. Next up, El Clásico. The Blaugrana come into this match missing key players, looking a bit unconvincing but fired up and invigorated by their youth prospects who have carried them across the finish line when they needed the win. El Clásico, it has been said, is a game where recent form means little. Both teams come into the match wanting to deliver a knockout blow. Both teams want to win. And both fanbases want blood, figuratively of course. In this episode of the Y Nada Mas podcast, we discuss Real Madrid's recent games against Sevilla and Braga before diving into what we can expect from El Clásico such as desired lineups, Barcelona's current form, and much more. Ep. 79 - A Winning Mentality
The international break is almost over and La Liga action will return this weekend versus Sevilla. Since their loss against Atlético Madrid in the Madrid derby Real Madrid has demonstrated a winning mentality and has returned to the top of the league table with recent wins over Las Palmas, Girona, and Osasuna. In the Champions League, Los Blancos defeated Serie A champions Napoli. Jude Bellingham has continued his incredible form and now has 10 goals in 10 games for Real Madrid in all competitions. Sevilla, regardless of their current form, is a different team to face when they play in their home ground of the Sanchéz Pizjuán but as we discuss in this podcast, the team with likes of Bellingham, Vinicius, Tchouameni, Kroos, etc...have begun finding their footing in Ancelotti's new system. We'll see if the international break will affect Los Blancos. In this episode, we discuss the win over Napoli, Osasuna, Bellingham's incredible form, and Real Madrid's chances in the UCL and La Liga this season. Ep. 78 - Return To The Top...For Now
Real Madrid has now returned to the top...for now. After losing the Madrid Derby versus Atlético Madrid at the Metropolitano over a week ago, Real Madrid have returned to their winning ways and have since picked up two wins. One against UD Las Palmas during midweek and this past weekend another win versus surprise league leaders Girona. The win versus Girona propelled Los Blancos back to the top of LaLiga and now Real Madrid head to Naples to face off against Serie A defending champions, Napoli. In this episode, which we recorded on the move - something I want to do in order to keep content flowing even if I am not in studio - we discuss the win over Girona, Camavinga's return to the left back position, our defensive woes, and much more! Ep. 77 - Remain Calm
The storm from the weekend loss versus Atlético Madrid has passed and Real Madrid have bounced back from that loss with a win over lowly UD Las Palmas. But this is Real Madrid, and a loss against our crosstown rivals always stings and gives the more rabid elements of the Real Madrid fanbase a reason to claim that the house needs to be burned to the ground and rebuilt from scratch, so to speak. But it's still very early in the season, so we need to remain calm (insert the Cristiano Ronaldo "Calma" GIF here). Now, obviously, that doesn't mean no mistakes were made and that there is no room for criticism but pointing fingers and laying the blame squarely at one person's feet is also not the way to go. In this episode, we talk about the loss versus Atlético over the weekend, the win over UD Las Palmas this week, and what we have learned from our first loss of the season. It's not all doom and gloom, so perk up and ¡Hala Madrid!   Social Media Links: Instagram - https://instagram.com/ynmpodcast Twitter - https://twitter.com/ynadamaspodcast Facebook - https://facebook.com/ynadamaspodcast   Y Nada Mas Podcast Links: Apple Podcasts - https://bit.ly/YNM-Podcast Google Podcasts - https://bit.ly/2Hu6aYz Spotify - https://spoti.fi/2FvuDfK iHeart Radio - https://ihr.fm/2HCcz4t YouTube - https://bit.ly/YNM-YouTube

Yes, Madridistas, we don't have a #9 and we need another quality RB to deputize Dani Carvajal BUT regardless of that, there is something to be excited about. We have something very special. Ep. 75 - Happy But Nervous
Real Madrid has started off the season on the right foot with two wins in their first two games of the season. In addition, new arrival Jude Bellingham has fit right into this young Real Madrid side scoring three goals in his first two games. However, it is still safe to say that Madridistas are happy but nervous. Carlo Ancelotti's new 4-4-2 diamond formation may be getting the best out of Jude Bellingham and the team's stacked midfield but it is also affecting Real Madrid star, Vinicius Junior who clearly looks uncomfortable playing a more central role. But with Karim Benzema gone and no world-class number 9, Ancelotti is seemingly doing the best he can with what he has been given. In this episode we talk about Spain's win in the Women's World Cup, Real Madrid Femenino's Olga Carmona, Spanish Federation drama, and of course Real Madrid's win over UD Almería. It's been a while since we posted a podcast but it's a new season and it's time to get back on track as a younger looking more energetic Madrid takes the field during the 2023-2024 season. Ep. 73 - Can The Real Madrid Please Stand Up?
The last time we recorded the podcast, Real Madrid had just come off back-to-back victories against Villareal in the Copa del Rey and Athletic Club in La Liga. It seemed like Real Madrid was back on track after their Supercopa loss to Barcelona. Los Blancos then defeated Atlético Madrid in a heated Copa Del Rey match that was preceded by disgusting racially charged antics by some Atlético Madrid fans towards Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior. Real Madrid then drew against a tough Real Sociedad, dropping important points in the La Liga title race. A 2-0 victory over Valencia put Los Blancos back on track but a disastrous performance versus Mallorca saw them lose not only the game but fall further back of FC Barcelona in the title race. With Barcelona now 8 points clear at the top of La Liga and multiple Real Madrid players injured, it now seems Real Madrid's title defense is out of reach. However, aside from Real Madrid's up-and-down performances on the pitch, injuries, fatigue, and lack from the board to buy any backup players during the winter transfer window, now Real Madrid's star winger, Vinicius Junior, has been on the receiving end of multiple instances of racial abuse and what we feel is a coordinated attack by many in the Spanish media to paint him as some sort of villain. In this podcast, we wanted to touch on racism in La Liga and football as a whole, our zero tolerance for it, as well as Real Madrid's sporting woes and much more. Ep. 72 - Are We Back?
We should be used to it by now, Madridistas. Real Madrid has a few bad games, they look terrible, they lose to our bitter rivals, and they make us feel like all is lost. And yet, Los Blancos, throughout their history have the uncanny ability to claw victory from the jaws of defeat. To turn things around just when all but the most faithful lose hope. After a loss to Villarreal in La Liga and a bitter defeat to Barcelona in the Supercopa final, Real Madrid clawed their way back from 2-0 down to defeat Villarreal in the Copa del Rey and then defeated the always-tough Athletic Club 2-0 in La Liga. Both of those games were played away from home, in hostile territory, in stadiums that have always been difficult for Los Blancos. It seems the post-holiday, early 2023 slump is coming to an end. But are was back yet? Well, Real Madrid seemingly looks like a team that is beginning to find its rhythm again. And if there is one thing this team has taught their haters over the years, it's that just when you think you have them beat, they can turn things around and crush your dreams. In this episode, we discuss Real Madrid's come-from-behind win versus Villarreal in the Copa Del Rey, their win over Athletic Club, the unlikely heroes from these two fixtures, and more! Ep. 71 - That Was NOT It
If Real Madrid was trying to return to form and put on a good performance after losing to Villareal last week and just barely getting past Valencia, well then that was not it. In what was probably one of the worst performances of the season Real Madrid was dominated by Barcelona in the Supercopa de España final. What makes the loss even more infuriating was not only that they played terribly but that they did so, on again, against bitter rivals Barcelona. Barcelona who hasn't been impressive as of late either seemed to brush aside Real Madrid easily. Who is to blame? What happened? Well in this episode of the podcast, we discuss the game, the loss, Ancelotti, winter signings, Florentino Perez, and much more. Ep. 70 - Tough Times Ahead
Real Madrid fell to Villarreal 1-2 at Estadio de la Cerámica this past Saturday. The team from the Valencian community has proven to be a thorn in Real Madrid's side in recent years, yet they have not been able to beat Los Blancos since 2018. However, a lackluster performance from Real Madrid and a strong performance by Villarreal lead "The Yellow Submarine" to their first victory over Real Madrid in 5 years. Real Madrid has little time to right the ship as they are off to Saudi Arabia this week to face Valencia for the Supercopa de España. They will then need to return to Estadio de la Cerámica again in order to play Villareal again in the Round of 16 of La Copa Del Rey. If Real Madrid can't turn around what has been unconvincing performances as of late, it will be tough times ahead for Madridistas. Los Blancos have a string of difficult fixtures coming up versus the likes of Valencia, Villarreal, Athletic Bilbao, and Real Sociedad coming up and all of these times will be chomping at the bit to get 3 points from what seems to be an underperforming Real Madrid. In this episode, we discuss the game versus Villarreal, the lack of depth in the squads, the dip in from some of the players, and how Madridistas should strap for what will be a difficult few weeks. But with that said, this team is no stranger to coming from behind and proving everyone, even it's loyal fans, wrong. It's a team that loves to make us suffer. We'll still always keep the faith regardless and say, ¡Hala Madrid!
