What’s it really like to have restrictions with type 1 diabetes : 3 ways to cope with feeling normal

Have you ever craved to be normal as a T1D? I’m 23, and when I was first diagnosed at the age of 9  my mom’s first thought was if I’ll be able to do the normal things, like going one school trips alone, going to a hostel for undergrad, party like a teenager, play different sports, participate in school and college events, hanging out and doing projects late night or something as basic as getting a tattoo. Because believe it or not, when you get diagnose the doctor first gives you a list of things you cannot do and it seems like the end of life. I’m graduating this year andi here I’m sharing 3 ways to cope with this feeling of being normal with type 1 diabetes growing up, whether you are a caregiver or a young type 1 diabetic yourself.
