What A Load Of Cobblers
Ivan Toney: From Eastfield Park to England

Brentford's Ivan Toney is one of the most exciting attacking talents in the country and is seriously being talked about as an England international.

Of course, Ivan was born and raised in Northampton and became the Cobblers' youngest ever player when making his debut at the tender age of 16 in 2012.

WALOC's Tom Reed and Jefferson Lake are joined by Jay Harris, Brentford FC reporter for The Athletic to discuss Toney's rise from the East Midlands town to the Premier League, via a frustrating time at Newcastle and various lower league loans.

We discuss Toney's upbringing on Eastfield on the Eastern district in Northampton and the attributes required to play his way back into the Premier League with Brentford and into the England reckoning.

This is a story of grit, self-belief, growing humility and above all talent in front of goal with some brilliant insights into his regard within the Brentford dressing room.

"That Ivan Toney, he's one of our own."
