Episode 06: Troll 2 (1990)

"Half man, half plant. A goblin's favorite food."

Have you ever wondered what happens when you have a director who can't speak English try to direct a crew of wannabe actors who can't act? What if you add a screenplay written by that same director's also non-English speaking wife and the fact that the screenplay was inspired by her friends suddenly becoming vegetarian? Add a bunch of little people walking around in potato sacks and cheap rubber Halloween masks and you get Troll 2.

Oh, boy. Where do we start? A movie so bad yet has such a huge following that it is constantly played in theaters across the country for Midnight Movie Madness showings, as well as spawning the award winning documentary, "Best Worst Movie."

This "movie" has it all: Trolls that are actually goblins, the spirit of a dead grandfather who can apparently freeze time, and even some witchy popcorn sex. With all that and more, is this movie really so bad it's good? Well grab yourself a double-decker bologna sandwich as we find out.

Episode 05: Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023)

"Pooh, you need to help me. There, there's something wrong with Piglet. He just killed my wife. Please!"

In 1926, writer A.A. Milne and illustrator E.H. Shepard got together and created the character of Winnie-the-Pooh. Before the end of that year more than 150,000 copies of the book were sold and Pooh, Piglet, and the rest of his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood became a huge hit in households everywhere.

In 1966, The Walt Disney Company released their first animated adaptation of the silly ol' bear and the rest is history. Pooh Bear and is friends are now a major part of the Disney corporation and there seems to be no stopping that phenomenon.

And then 2022 happened.

The book rights to Winnie-the Pooh entered the public domain and a man named Rhys Frake-Waterfield went upon himself to write, direct, and produce a film where Pooh and Piglet become homicidal maniacs attacking and killing anyone that enters their territory.

Join us as we discuss this film and try to wonder how something that was a pretty moderate success also earned five Golden Raspberry awards. How can something this panned help create a shared universe of killer creatures that also involve Peter Pan, Bambi Pinocchio, and the rest of the Hundred Acre Wood animals? And the major questions after all of this are: How much does Melissa regret doing this podcast and will there even be an Episode 06?

Episode 04: Carrie (1976)

"It has nothing to do with Satan, Mama. It's me. Me. If I concentrate hard enough, I can move things."

High school. It can either create some of your best memories or it can possibly be the worst time of your life. It's bad enough if you're considered an outcast by your peers due to being the "weirdo," but then add the fact that your mother is the town religious fanatic that thinks everything is a sin. Poor Carrie White never had a chance.

Even when one of the bullies tries to make the wrong thing right, it will not only lead to the worst night in Carrie's life, but the worst night in the lives of everyone going to the Senior Prom. Even back in 1976, it was wise to never pick on the student who's a little different, especially if they're telekinetic.

In this episode, there are plenty of things to discuss: being an outcast, revenge, and how sometimes the real monsters are the human ones. Plus this is a first time watch for Melissa, so the biggest question will be if it lives up to the hype of its reputation or if it should drown in a bucket of pig's blood.

Episode 03: The Room (2003) w/ special guest Neal Preston

"Hi, doggie."

What happens when one co-host suggests that we discuss a movie that is supposedly unwatchable? We shoot ourselves in the foot and end up watching The Room.

Written, produced and directed by the mysterious weirdo known as Tommy Wiseau, The Room centers around Johnny (played by Wiseau) and how his somewhat wonderful life is shattered when his girlfriend Lisa grows tired of their relationship and decides to have an affair with their mutual friend Mark. This causes Johnny to become paranoid and his life spirals out of control until the tragic end.

There are bad movies, and then there's The Room. Written by a man that most likely doesn't know how to read and starring "actors" that were probably only compensated with a free lunch, The Room has grown into a huge cult classic that even spawned an award winning biographical movie known as The Disaster Artist.

Join us as we attempt to break down his garbage pile of a movie that includes, awful dialogue, creepy kids, lots of random games of catch football, and even some possible bellybutton sex. This movie truly "tore us apart!"

Episode 02: Train to Buscan (2016)

"I'll take you to mom no matter what."

In the second episode of the podcast, Eric and Melissa discuss 2016's Train to Buscan, the hit zombie film that set a record for being the first Korean film to break an audience record of 10 million theatergoers.

Gong Yoo stars as Seok-woo, a workaholic divorced father of one who is accompanying his young daughter on a train ride to meet her mother while a zombie outbreak happens. Banding together with some soon-to-be parents and a high school student, the group do what they can to survive the dangerous train ride.

Intense situations, likeable characters, and a gut punching finale, Train to Buscan keeps you hooked from start to finish. Join your hosts as they punch that ticket and go full speed ahead in this episode!

Episode 01: The Substance (2024)

"What has been used on one side, is lost on the other side. There's no going back."

In the debut episode, Eric and Melissa tackle 2024's The Substance. A horror movie that seemingly came out of nowhere and took award shows by storm.

Starring Demi Moore as Elisabeth Sparkle, an actress who has just turned 50 and is immediately considered too old for her television show. After using a black market drug known only as The Substance, a younger version of "herself" named Sue is "born" and starts to live the good life that Elisabeth still craves. The major catch is that after a week, things have to go back the way they were and Sue eventually comes to dislike that.

Social commentary on aging mixed with a lot of body horror and a major WTF finale, The Substance is a huge way to start the podcast. Make sure to buckle up because it's going to be quite the ride.
