I made it through day two unscathed. Through podcasts I encountered an example of cancel culture that shows that tech companies may not have as much power as we think they do. Maybe they aren’t the problem after all.

We watched The Social Dilemma documentary on Netflix with our kids. It led to some discovery and some questions that need to be answered. I decided to remove the temptation of mindless scrolling from my life for one week. I need to see how it affects my productivity, and I also want to see how the network responds to my absence. Is it going to try to bring me back? Will it sense my lack of connection? What about the people I am connected to? Will they notice? These are my thoughts from day number one.

This episode is a test. I need some feedback about sound quality. I am a horrible nerd when it comes to sound. I need people to tell me if they find this acceptable.

I want to issue a challenge. Turn off the “news.“ do it for 14 days. On the 15th day, turn it on so you can hear how they talk to you. Trump Drangement Syndrome is real and the entire media is affected with it.

Has all of the turbulence of 2020 ever made you want to just disappear? Have you ever thought about trying to break away from society and live off the grid? It would be pretty easy. Maybe.

Finding a ride in 2020 has become almost impossible.

The system will always disappoint you.

I’ve watched with interest over the last four months as people began to question authority and the media that supplies them with information. I’ve been disappointed to see many of them revert back to subservience when they got a new dose of fear.

The name came to me in a flash, in response to a question. “What’s your problem with the government anyway?“ I had to think quick. I needed an answer that would not be 20 minutes in length. It had to be concise and simple. This episode tells that story.

Welcome to the first episode of Ordinary Conversations. I've wanted to start the project for a while to give "ordinary" people a platform to share their story, their journey, and their experience. I began a journey of questioning what I was taught nearly a decade ago, and that put me in the uncomfortable position of realizing that I couldn't really defend what I believed. Once I began to ask certain questions, I found that some friends weren't friendly any longer. Through this journey I've met a lot of really interesting people who (in my opinion) should be heard. I've decided that this is the place for them to have the freedom to have that conversation. Our first guest is a dear friend of mine, a Christian Pastor, my pastor and friend, Jamie Wright. Jamie has been on a journey of reformation and discovery over the last decade or so. You need to take that image of "Pastor" out of your mind where you see a gray-haired man in a suit and tie in a big, fancy church. That isn't who Jamie is. First and foremost, he is a teacher. He has been a source of encouragement and information for me over the last five years and I can't imagine where I would be right now without him.

Principles shouldn’t change just because your tribe says so. Principles should be what anchor you in times of trouble and keep your individuality and liberty in tact.
