[Spanish] - Destierros by Gabriela Riveros
Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/584187 to listen full audiobooks.

A Very Short History of the Israel–Palestine Conflict by Ilan Pappe

Title: A Very Short History of the Israel–Palestine Conflict Author: Ilan Pappe Narrator: Jonathan Todd Ross Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 3 hours 48 minutes Release date: October 1, 2024 Genres: Current Affairs, Law, & Politics Publisher's Summary: An indispensable guide to understanding the Israel–Palestine conflict, and how we might yet still find a way out of it. 'Ilan Pappe is the most original, radical and hard-hitting of Israel's 'new historians.'' —Avi Shlaim, author of Three Worlds The devastation of 7 October 2023 and the horrors that followed astounded the world. But the Israel–Palestine conflict didn't start on 7 October. It didn't start in 1967 either, when Israel occupied the West Bank, or in 1948 when the state of Israel was declared. It started in 1882, when the first Zionist settlers arrived in what was then Ottoman Palestine. Ilan Pappe untangles the history of two peoples, now sharing one land. Going back to the founding fathers of Zionism, Pappe expertly takes us through the twists and turns of international policy towards Israel–Palestine, Palestinian resistance to occupation, and the changes taking place in Israel itself.

Schwob quickly developed his multilingual abilities and then studied philology and Sanscrit at the École pratique des hautes études before completing his military service in Vannes with the artillery. After completing a Bachelor of Arts in 1888 he became a professional journalist and worked for the Phare de la Loire, the Événement and L'Écho de Paris. The 1890’s marked his establishment as a brilliant writer with the publication of six short story collections. Intestinal surgery was given several times, at first with success but, by 1900, after two more surgeries, he was told that nothing more could be done for him. Schwob now existed on kefir and fermented milk.By the turn of the century, despite failing health, and often too ill to write, he embarked on several long travels, including to Vailima in the South Pacific where his literary hero Stevenson had died. Schwob was regarded as a symbolist writer and a ‘precursor of Surrealism’. Hidden in Plain View: A Secret Story of Quilts and the Underground Railroad by Raymond G. Dobard, Jacqueline L. Tobin
Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/768817 to listen full audiobooks. Title: Hidden in Plain View: A Secret Story of Quilts and the Underground Railroad Author: Raymond G. Dobard, Jacqueline L. Tobin Narrator: Leon Nixon, Janina Edwards Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 5 hours 33 minutes Release date: September 3, 2024 Genres: The Americas Publisher's Summary: "There are five square knots on the quilt every two inches apart. They escaped on the fifth knot on the tenth pattern and went to Ontario, Canada. The monkey wrench turns the wagon wheel toward Canada on a bear's paw trail to the crossroads--" And so begins the fascinating story that was passed down from generation to generation in the family of Ozella McDaniel Williams. But what appears to be a simple story that was handed down from grandmother to mother to daughter is actually much, much more than that. In fact, it is a coded message steeped in African textile traditions that provides a link between slave-made quilts and the Underground Railroad. In 1993, author Jacqueline Tobin visited the Old Market Building in the historic district of Charleston, South Carolina, where local craftspeople sell their wares. Amid piles of beautiful handmade quilts, Tobin met African American quilter Ozella Williams and the two struck up a conversation. With the admonition to "write this down," Williams began to tell a fascinating story that had been handed down from her mother and grandmother before her. As Tobin sat in rapt attention, Williams began to describe how slaves made coded quilts and then used them to navigate their escape on the Underground Railroad. But just as quickly as she started, Williams stopped, informing Tobin that she would learn the rest when she was "ready." During the three years it took for Williams's narrative to unfold--and as the friendship and trust between the two women grew--Tobin enlisted Raymond Dobard, Ph.D., an art history professor and well-known African American quilter, to help provide the historical context behind what Williams was describing. Now, based on Williams's story and their own research, Tobin and Dobard, in what they call "Ozella's Underground Railroad Quilt Code," offer proof that some slaves were involved in a sophisticated network that melded African textile traditions with American quilt practices and created a potent result: African American quilts with patterns that conveyed messages that were, in fact, essential tools for escape along the Underground Railroad.

[Spanish] - El Talón de Hierro by Jack London
Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/812360 to listen full audiobooks.

Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/795905 to listen full audiobooks. Title: Microbes: The Unseen Agents of Climate Change Author: David L. Kirchman Narrator: Tristan Morris Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 7 hours 27 minutes Release date: August 20, 2024 Genres: Biology & Chemistry Publisher's Summary: For billions of years, microbes have produced and consumed greenhouse gases that regulate global temperature and in turn other aspects of our climate. The balance of these gases maintains Earth's habitability. Methane, a greenhouse gas produced only by microbes, may have kept Earth out of a deep freeze billions of years ago. Likewise, variations in carbon dioxide, another greenhouse gas released by microbes and other organisms, help to explain the comings and goings of ice ages over the last million years. Now we face a human-made climate crisis with drastic consequences. The complete story behind greenhouse gases, however, involves microbes and their role in natural ecosystems. Microscopic organisms are also part of the solution, producing biofuels and other forms of green energy which keep fossil fuels in the ground. Other microbes can be harnessed to reduce the release of methane and nitrous oxide from agriculture, and geoengineering solutions that depend on microbes could pull carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. David L. Kirchman introduces a unique and timely contribution to the climate change conversation and the part microbes play in our past, present, and future. He takes listeners into the unseen world behind the most important environmental problem facing society today and encourages us to embrace microbial solutions.

Now she must put her move to New York on hold and return to a place she swore she would not. Fans of Angela Marsons, Patricia Cornwell and Cara Hunter will be absolutely gripped until the final, breathtaking twist.

Title: Quantum Conjurations: A LitRPG Adventure Series: #1 of Eldrich Engineer Author: Michael Anderle, Kevin Mclaughlin Narrator: Jonathan Sleep Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 7 hours 33 minutes Release date: June 25, 2024 Genres: Science Fiction Publisher's Summary: His experiment shouldn't have wrecked his lab, created a portal to another dimension, or sucked him through said portal. Despite all that, Charles Smith found himself landing atop the emissary of an evil group of mages called the Shadow Council. Literally on top of him, along with half the gear from his lab, which had the fortunate side-effect of turning the evil sorcerer into paste. This won Charles the gratitude of King Alfred, ruler of the Kingdom of Kortall and the man who said sorcerer had been threatening moments before Smith's arrival. But the reward for a job well done is always more work! Alfred quickly recruits Charles to help defend his kingdom against the invading army. Wildly outmatched, Alfred's forces are on the verge of being crushed. If he falls, there will be little to stop the Shadow Council from taking over the entire world. Charles will need every trick he knows, including a lot of science, some engineering—and maybe even a little bit of magic—if Kortall is to have any hope of surviving!
