This week, Liz starts the episode off by discussing the May 1999 disappearance of Angel Antonio "Tony" Torres out of Barre, Massachusetts. Tony was last seen in Biddeford, Maine. Then, Katie tells the horrifying murder of Shanike "Nikki" Roldan. On November 3rd, 2019, Nikki was seen running down School Street in Springfield, Massachusetts when she was shot and killed. Her killer left clues to lead to his eventual arrest, including threatening text messages.

Episode 208: St. Joseph's Orphanage
For this week’s Spooky Halloween Extravaganza VIP Haunted Spectacular ™ episode, the girls of True Crime New England head over to Burlington, Vermont to discuss one of their favorite topics: why the Catholic Church is the worst. Katie and Liz look into the entire history of St. Joseph’s Orphanage, a children’s home that was open from 1854 to 1974, and housed over 13,000 children in its 120 year lifespan. After the closure of the orphanage, residents began to come forward and tell the horrible experiences of abuse of all kinds that came from nuns and priests alike, attempting to file lawsuits and get justice for the horrifying things they endured. Tune in to hear horrific details of life at St. Joseph’s Orphanage, and get some real perspective as to what these kids went through.

It's that time again- another Sunday, another installment from True Crime New England's case profile mini-episode series! First, Katie tells the very confusing and unsettling disappearance of 29-year-old Celeste Doghmi, who was reported missing in 2023, two years after she was last heard from in Auburn, Maine. Then, Liz discusses the case of the disappearance of 20-year-old Israel Rosado, who was last seen getting into a truck with an unknown man outside his apartment in Bristol, Connecticut in 2004. Both of these cases remain unsolved.

Episode 206: The Murder of Leslie Spellman
Join Katie and Liz on another episode of True Crime New England as they discuss a decades-long unsolved murder. 27-year-old Leslie Spellman was hitchhiking with her younger sister in June of 1977, when they separated ways to try and end up at different locations. Unfortunately, Leslie was found the next morning in Northeast Harbor, Maine, bludgeoned to death. Due to the circumstances leading up to her death, like hitchhiking and being far from her home in Hingham, Massachusetts, the evidence of who did the crime was scarce. While she has potentially been connected to two serial killers, there has never been an official suspect named. Now, nearing 50 years later, her murder remains unsolved.

Episode 205: Edward Wright
On this week’s episode of True Crime New England, Katie and Liz take a deep dive into the nightmare that is the case against Edward Wright, a man who was wrongly accused of killing his friend, Penny Anderson, in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1984. Edward was seen with Penny the night before her murder, and factors such as withheld evidence, false testimony, and racial bias led to his conviction of first-degree murder, ending with a life sentence. After 40 years and six motions for a new trial, Edward was able to work with the New England Innocence Project to get his wrongful conviction overturned.

Episode 202: The Murder of Doris Maxfield
Join Katie and Liz on another episode of True Crime New England as they navigate the life and death of housewife Doris Maxfield. Doris, born in the 1930s in Maine, found herself living in Massachusetts in her adolescence and into her young adult years, getting married twice and delivering four sons. It wasn’t until January of 1977 that the well-liked, local store owner was found dead in her kitchen in Post Mills, Vermont. Her initial autopsy stated her cause of death was natural causes, but was shortly re-examined to find that she had actually been strangled. Despite this fact, no one has ever been charged in her death.

Episode 201: Nathan Carman
This week on True Crime New England, Katie and Liz take a look at the complex case of Nathan Carman, a young man who was suspected of two separate murders of different family members. Nathan was very close to his grandfather, wealthy real estate mogul John Chakalos, and stood to inherit a very large sum of money from him. When John was found murdered in his Connecticut home in 2013, Nathan was a suspect, however he was never charged. Three years later in 2016, tragedy struck when Nathan and his mother, Linda, went on a fishing trip. After eight entire days, Nathan was the only one who returned, claiming the boat sank rapidly and Linda drowned. Due to his suspicious stories, a lengthy investigation from the Coast Guard and police ensued and he was eventually charged with Linda’s murder. Unfortunately, Nathan Carman died by suicide in 2023 while awaiting trial.

It’s our 200th episode! Can you believe it? For such a special occasion, Katie and Liz felt there needed to be a big story to celebrate… what’s bigger than the Boston Strangler? Join the girls on this episode of True Crime New England as they go into the nitty and gritty details revolving around the infamous Boston Strangler killings that occurred between June of 1962 and January of 1964. Officially, 11 women were murdered, all with the same M.O., and hope of catching the killer didn’t seem to be possible until one day, several months after the murders stopped, a man named Albert DeSalvo confessed. He was never charged with the murders due to being stabbed to death while incarcerated for other crimes, and his confession is widely unaccepted by a lot of people who have been interested in the case for decades.

Episode 199: The Murder of Amy Theriault
On this week’s episode of True Crime New England, Katie and Liz discuss the tragic murder of Amy Theriault. Amy was known to be compassionate, empathetic, and a devoted mother who spent all of her time helping others. On May 31st, 2014, Amy was fatally stabbed and shot by her ex-boyfriend, Jesse Marquis, who was upset that she had ended their two-year-long relationship just the night before. Jesse was arrested after a manhunt that lasted nearly a week, and luckily he was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison. Amy's family did not stop at getting justice and advocated for legislation in Maine for life in prison for murders related to domestic violence. This law, known as Amy's law, passed in 2019.

Young Hannah had not had an easy life, so when a local 6-year-old girl was found brutally beaten, Hannah was a prime suspect. She eventually confessed to the murder and in December of 1786, she was hung. But the question still remains… did the Native-American girl actually kill the wealthy farmer’s daughter?

Episode 197: The Suspicious Deaths of Janet and Stephen Dow
This week on True Crime New England, Katie and Liz bring you the tragic story of a mother and son who were found dead in a fiery car crash just 500 feet from their home in Thornton, New Hampshire. Janet Dow and her son Stephen were found burnt beyond recognition on a December 1982 morning, and with the story that husband and stepfather Richard Dow gave, police believed the whole thing was just an extremely tragic accident. As a result, no investigation was performed, and the bodies were cremated with no autopsies. It wasn’t until 1993 when an ex-girlfriend of Richard’s came forward to local police and told a whole new story that would show the car accident was really no accident at all.
