Episode 542 - 2026 Delirious Series - Nikki Frost’s Check In- No Poles, No Plan, Just Grit – Nikki’s First Check-In
In this warm, honest, and slightly chaotic first check-in, we sit down with Delirious WEST 2026 athlete Nikki Frost (yes, Michelle’s daughter!) to hear how her prep is tracking for her first 200-miler. Nikki might live in the city, train mostly on concrete (and treadmills), and have a full-time travel-heavy job—but that’s not stopping her from diving headfirst into ultra training. In this episode, you’ll hear:•🏃‍♀️ How Nikki’s non-planning approach helps her avoid overthinking big events•🧗‍♀️ Her spontaneous sign-up for the 46km Rollercoaster Ultra… with only 5 weeks prep (and 1 week sick!)•🌇 Balancing early morning runs, work travel, and two energetic pups•🧠 Why she’s focusing on short-term goals, routine, and rest over “cramming”•🍲 The early stages of exploring race-day nutrition (and maybe even a nutritionist)•🎒 Poles? Trails? Elevation training? Eh… maybe later This one’s a blend of laughs, love, and a good reminder that not everyone trains the same—and that’s totally okay. Nikki’s going all-in, her own way. And yep, she’s dragging her sister along as support crew too (trial run, anyone? 😉) Can’t wait to see where the next month takes her! Episode 541 - MM 194- Check In with Your Jaw
This week’s mindful moment is small but mighty: check in with your jaw. We carry so much tension in this one small part of the body—often without even realising it. So today, pause and notice: is your jaw clenched? Is your tongue pressed to the roof of your mouth? Take a deep breath and let it all soften. Release your jaw, drop your tongue, maybe even yawn dramatically. This gentle reset not only relaxes your face but signals your entire nervous system to let go. One small action can ripple through your whole body—bringing ease, calm, and a quiet return to presence. Spend just five minutes with this practice, and see how it can bring calm and clarity to your day. Episode 540 - 2026 Delirious Series - Sym Mercer’s Check In - Sand Runs, Roo Encounters & Training on the Fly
In this first monthly check-in for the Delirious WEST 2026 podcast series, we catch up with Sym Mercer—a calm, honest, and practical runner who’s embracing the unpredictability of training while working remotely in Western Queensland. From running in 42°C heat to dodging kangaroos and spotting deer on the trail (yep, really!), Sym shares how he’s building towards the 200-miler one grounded step at a time. His approach is all about listening to his body, staying injury-free, and doing what he can, when he can—even if that means split runs, strength training in hotel rooms, or making peace with a 5K on a hectic day. This episode is a reminder that there’s no one-size-fits-all plan to get to the start line of an ultra. Whether it’s sand instead of hills, sauna blankets for recovery, or a spontaneous east-west street maze on Strava—Sym proves that presence, consistency, and flexibility are the real cornerstones of long-distance success. ⸻ 💡 Why You’ll Love This Episode:•Training in 40+ degree heat and sandy paddocks•How Sym stays injury-free (spoiler: it’s not magic)•Embracing “feel-based” running while on the road•How wild animal encounters keep training fresh (hello, deer 🦌)•The mindset shift: why distance is less important than backing it up daily Delirious WEST event Website – https://deliriouswest200miler.com.au/Event Facebook Page – https://www.facebook.com/groups/1428304207182387   A couple of BIG favours: 1) please like and review this podcast so more people will discover it :)2) come on the podcast and talk about your running journey and/or refer someone you’d love me to interview (whether you know them or not :) )  Lets not keep the power of running a secret any more!  Hit me up on Facebook/Instagram (ZenRUN.club) or send me an email - Hello @ zenrun.club Don't miss an episode of the ZenRUN Podcast. Episode 539 - 2026 Delirious Series - Intro - Quiet Grit & Long Runs – Matthew Farrand’s Delirious Story Begins
Meet Matthew Farrand: From reluctant school fun-runs to chasing 200 miles through WA bushland In this episode, we welcome UK-based runner (with deep Aussie roots!) Matthew Farrand to the Delirious WEST 2026 athlete series. Born in Margate, raised in Rockingham, and now based in South London, Matthew’s running story is anything but predictable. Once a kid who did everything possible to avoid running at school, Matthew has gradually transformed into someone who relishes multi-hour long runs through parks, tunnels, and trails across London. What started with a half marathon for charity has grown into a love for long-distance adventures—culminating in signing up for Delirious 200. In this chat, you’ll hear about:•🌏 His global journey from accounting to photography to digital comms (and now horticulture!)•👟 Why strength training changed everything during his 50-mile ultra•🛫 The logistics of flying from the UK with trail shoes in hand luggage (not checked!)•📸 Why he’s bringing a film camera for the Delirious trail•🧠 And how running gives him the mental clarity he didn’t know he was missing Matthew’s story is a great reminder that even late bloomers can go very far—and that long runs can be as much about headspace as they are about distance. Episode 538 - 2026 Delirious Series - Intro - Bluff Knoll, Treadmills & Moroccan Sand: Meet Kylie Bell
From muddy mountain bike rides to midnight treadmill runs after night shift — Kylie Bell brings grit, humour, and heart to every mile she runs. In this Delirious West 2026 intro episode, we meet Kylie: an Albany-based police officer, remedial massage therapist, and adventure-seeking endurance runner who’s taking on the 100-mile event in 2026. From her early years in Armadale to paddling adventures with her dad, Kylie’s been wired for movement and challenge since day one. Her racing resume includes epic stage races across Morocco, Hawaii, and the Grand Canyon, plus a DIY “Everest” effort up Bluff Knoll (14 times!) — all squeezed between shift work, business ownership, and life with her fur-baby Noodle 🐾. 🎧 In this episode:•Why Kylie left triathlon for the trail life (hint: muddy mountain bikers + beer)•How she trained for ultras while working 10-hour night shifts (and sometimes… running to AND from work!)•What it’s like being a detective, a runner, and a human who still loves running “for the calm”•Why her husband says she “ruined running” for him 😂•Her unique approach to training that involves treadmills, forced events, and “just figuring it out” Kylie’s take on ultra-running is refreshingly real: it’s not always perfect, but it’s always worth it. Episode 537 - MM 193 - Let your hands speak
This week’s mindful moment invites you into gentle, expressive movement with let your hands speak. Instead of using your hands for a task, take a quiet moment to move them freely—like they’re telling a story. Stretch your fingers wide, make soft fists, draw shapes in the air, or roll your wrists in slow spirals. Let your breath guide you. There’s no right way to move—just a chance to feel what’s present and express it without words. It’s a simple yet powerful way to reconnect with your body, release tension, and invite a bit of creativity and calm into your day. Episode 534 - 2026 Delirious Series - Intro - 🔥 From Parkrun to 200 Miles: Meet Karin Ridley – The Joy-Fueled Force Behind the Finish Line
This episode introduces the unstoppable Karin Ridley—a mining logistics pro by day, trail adventurer by weekend, and proud member of the Delirious W.E.S.T. 2026 crew. Karin shares how her journey began with gastric sleeve surgery and a nudge from her mum to try Parkrun, which eventually catapulted her into the world of trail ultras. Her story is raw, hilarious, and deeply inspiring. From strength training with Susan Grover to finishing the 200-mile Delirious West solo in brutal WA heat (with no crew!), Karin walks us through the ups, downs, dirt naps, and shower stops that made her first Delirious unforgettable. And she’s doing it all again—because once you’ve seen what’s possible, you can’t unsee it. We chat about the magic of Averley’s running community, the life-changing power of volunteers and pacers (shoutout to Justin and Shannon), and what happens when you go from “I guess I’ll try a 10K trail run” to conquering back-to-back 200-milers in a single year. Karin also shares what it’s like training with a FIFO roster, navigating nutrition post-surgery, and fitting in runs with her husband Ben—her crew chief, best friend, and rock. Whether you’re new to trails or dreaming of going long, Karin’s story will remind you why we do this: for the adventure, the people, and the chance to find out what we’re made of. ⸻ Why You’ll Love This Episode:•From 145kg to 200-mile finisher—how she rebuilt her life and mindset•Trail running as therapy, community, and clarity•The emotional power of pacing and crewing in ultra events•Running post-gastric sleeve and the nutrition challenges that come with it•How strength training helped her conquer injury and stay race-ready•Her return to Delirious West in 2026—and why it’s not just about the finish line ⸻ Next Big Adventures:✔️ A brutally beautiful mountain half marathon in Spain✔️ Six Inch (WA’s trail runner Christmas party 🎄)✔️ Delirious West 2026 (yep, she’s back!)   Delirious WEST event Website – https://deliriouswest200miler.com.au/ Event Facebook Page – https://www.facebook.com/groups/1428304207182387 A couple of BIG favours: 1) please like and review this podcast so more people will discover it :)2) come on the podcast and talk about your running journey and/or refer someone you’d love me to interview (whether you know them or not :) )  Lets not keep the power of running a secret any more!  Hit me up on Facebook/Instagram (ZenRUN.club) or send me an email - Hello @ zenrun.club Don't miss an episode of the ZenRUN Podcast. Episode 535 - 2026 Delirious Series - Intro - Eve Knudson: The Accidental Ultra Runner
In this deeply relatable and refreshingly funny episode, we meet Eve Knudson, a Perth-based mum of two, construction estimator, and two-time Delirious W.E.S.T. 200-mile finisher who still doesn’t quite think of herself as a “real runner.” From making fake sick notes to skip athletics at school… to tackling 200 miles of rugged WA coastline—Eve’s story is full of unexpected turns, quiet grit, and big heart. She opens up about her mental health journey, how one awkward moment in a dress shop led her to triathlon (and eventually ultra trail), and why long runs are now her version of therapy, meditation, and freedom rolled into one. We also chat:•💥 How running helped her ditch the meds and reclaim her energy•👷‍♀️ What it’s like working in a male-dominated construction industry•👟 Her reluctant love of early morning solo runs (and Netflix treadmill backups)•💪 Why strength training still sucks—and how she’s squeezing in 10-minute sessions anyway•🎯 Her goal to “just do the 100-miler without anyone pampering me”•💛 What keeps her coming back: community, starlit trails, and that unbeatable aid station vibe Whether you’re training for something big or just trying to juggle life with laces on—Eve’s journey will hit home. Episode 536 - 2026 Delirious Series - Intro - From School Carnival Dodger to 400-Mile Finisher – Meet Bianca O’Neill
From dodging school carnivals to smashing 400-mile races and getting married in cowboy boots – meet the unstoppable Bianca O’Neill. In this fun and heartfelt intro episode, we kick off our monthly check-ins with Bianca as she prepares for the 2026 Delirious WEST 100-miler. But don’t be fooled – this isn’t her first rodeo (or ultra). She’s completed the 200-miler three times, earned both the 100 and 200-mile Triple Crowns, and even took on Laz Lake’s Heart of the South 400-mile journey run in the U.S. – a fully self-supported, make-it-up-as-you-go mission through six states. Why does she keep coming back to Delirious? It’s the people. The community. The emotional finish line in Albany. And maybe… to complete her weird collection of mismatched thong/sandal/welly-boot trophies. 🩴👢 Bianca chats about:•Her unlikely transition from horses to triathlons to ultras•The powerful bond she shares with her mum (and frequent race partner)•Competing with her husband for Strava supremacy 😅•How ChatGPT became her unexpected ultra coach•Balancing work, kids, and crazy-long runs (while planning a career shift!) And yes—this year’s 100-miler is technically her “B-race.” The big one? Ball State in the U.S. next year. But first… the magic of Delirious. ⸻ 🎧 Why You’ll Love This Episode:•Hilarious stories from the trail (and the roadside in Tennessee)•Honest reflections on fear, FOMO, and ultra obsession•Real talk on training, life balance, and community•A behind-the-scenes peek into Lazarus Lake’s wildest events•The joy of marrying your trail partner after running 400 miles ⸻ 🎯 Tips from the Trail: •“Every race becomes training for the next one.” •“Don’t underestimate the 100-miler—it’s a race, not a picnic!” •“Running with mates is the secret to getting out the door.” •“ChatGPT makes a surprisingly decent coach… if you listen!” ⸻ 🛤 Next Big Adventures:•Delirious WEST 100-Miler (Feb 2026)•Ball State 500K Journey Run (USA)•The mysterious “Third Circle of Hell” 🤯•A career shift into aged & disability care in Albany   Bianca’s 2022 podcast episode -https://fitmindfitbody.co/episode-104-those-finish-line-feels/ Delirious WEST event Website – https://deliriouswest200miler.com.au/ Event Facebook Page – https://www.facebook.com/groups/1428304207182387 A couple of BIG favours: 1) please like and review this podcast so more people will discover it :)2) come on the podcast and talk about your running journey and/or refer someone you’d love me to interview (whether you know them or not :) )  Lets not keep the power of running a secret any more!  Hit me up on Facebook/Instagram (ZenRUN.club) or send me an email - Hello @ zenrun.club Don't miss an episode of the ZenRUN Podcast. He hated it. The ZenRUN Podcast
Episode 524 - From Sickly Kid to 200-Mile Trail Conqueror: Duc Do’s Unorthodox Running Journey
Guest: Duc Do – AI expert, entrepreneur, author, and ultra-runner with a penchant for the “boring” and a training schedule that defies all conventional wisdom. Get Ready For: A wildly inspiring, deeply honest, and surprisingly hilarious conversation that proves there’s no single “right” way to be a runner. Duc’s story is a masterclass in resilience, creativity, and finding your own path. Why You’ll Love This Episode: The Ultimate Underdog Story: Duc grew up in Vietnam and India, plagued by chronic illness from overuse of antibiotics. He was the kid who finished dead last in school runs, huffing and puffing while the girls passed him. Fast forward to today, and he’s tackling 200-mile races like Delirious West. How? You’ll have to listen! The “Cunning Plan” (a.k.a. The Anti-Training Plan): Forget 6am track sessions and weekly mileage logs. Duc’s secret weapon? Running just once a week. That’s right. He’s a self-proclaimed “specialist at tapering” and has built an incredible ultra-running career on a single, long Sunday run. His philosophy: make it work for your crazy life, not the other way around. Embrace the Boring (Seriously): Duc didn’t choose running because he loved it; he chose it because he feared and found it utterly boring. His logic? If something is that unappealing, it must be exactly what he needed to break his cycle of illness. Spoiler alert: it worked. Running as Radical Honesty & Meditation: For Duc, ultra-running isn’t about medals or bragging rights. It’s a “privileged playground” to practice mindfulness and be brutally honest with yourself. When you’re 100 miles in, there’s no facade left—just you, your breath, and your footsteps. He shares how this practice bleeds into everyday life. The Power of the DNF: In a world obsessed with finishing, Duc offers a refreshing perspective. He finds deep satisfaction in his Did Not Finishes (DNFs) because the races that cause them are often the most fascinating and transformative. It’s not about the result; it’s about the raw, unfiltered experience. Tips from the Maverick: For Motivation: Sign up for races! Duc calls them “valid excuses” to get out the door and commit. The financial investment and the start line are powerful motivators. For Mental Toughness: When your mind starts to wander (especially when you’re tired or in pain), gently bring it back to the basics: your breath, your footsteps, or the simple rhythm of your movement. Counting or focusing on colours can help. For Race Strategy (His Way): Don’t fight your need for sleep in ultras. Duc, a self-described “big sleeper,” prioritises 1.5-2 hour chunks of quality sleep over micro-naps during 200-milers. Find what works for your body. For Injury Prevention (Maybe): Being a slow runner might be his secret. Duc credits his lack of serious injuries to not pushing for speed, which puts less strain on the body. He’s also transitioning more to trails for their softer impact and muscle variety. The Golden Rule: “There’s a million ways [to run ultras], and there are a lot of ways that I have not even thought of just yet.” Your path is yours alone. Experiment and find what feels right. Duc’s Next Big Adventures: He’s eyeing the gruelling Volstead 500K in the US (because it sounds “boring as hell”) and is determined to conquer the Tour de Trails after two DNFs. His cunning plans for these are already in the works! Connect with Duc: Duc’s  LinkTree (all his links) - https://linktr.ee/ducdo 💥 WIN a $150 Tarkine Shoe Voucher - 3rd chance to win!
