The search for buried treasure has been the traditional quest for humanity for over 500 centuries. It was a promise of a hoard of pirate gold that could save their town from Yuppie Greed that lured Mike “Mikey” Walsh, Richard “Data” Wang, Clark "Mouth" Devereaux, and Lawrence “Chunk” Cohen to gather for a final weekend together, in search of One-Eyed Willy’s treasure in the 1985 classic, The Goonies. And my friends it is our topic for today. Amanda takes us on a treasure hunting journey with the history, how it’s evolved through the times, and actual found and unfound treasures.
Our Wacky World News somewhat ties into this as a British philanthropist makes a from the grave roast at the art gallery he funded a wing for. Who said ghosts can’t have fun?

Can anyone else relate to All-Star by Smash Mouth with the lyric “the years start coming and they don’t start coming?” That’s how we’ve felt at TWRD since our last recording. But have no fear, we’re back with Season 3! To get us back into the swing of things, Amanda decided to have some articles in the past few years for us to discuss! They may not all be conspiracy related but they are definitely some interesting ones! We have some good laughs on some of the articles and can’t wait to record more this season!

As promised, recap episode writeup: S2, Epi 14 Seasons Recap
Time to wrap up Season 2 with a fun little recap of our thoughts from the first two seasons. We’ve seen some changes as we’ve progressed with recording as far as hosts, guest hosts, format. It was nice to take a trip down memory lane and see how far we’ve come. Amanda gave us some fun Wacky World News topics and we express our love for seafood on one of them.
As always if you have a topic you’d like us to cover or would like to guest host reach out to us on email at Thewatersrundeeppodcast@gmail.com or message us on Instagram at @TWRD_Podcast.

SPECIAL GUEST ALERT!!! This week Amanda’s mom, Margaret, joined us to give us a recap of one of her favorite YouTube saga’s with What the Hale$. This was sparked as Margaret was talking to us before we started recording and we all agreed that this would be an amazing episode. While it may seem a little chaotic (okay, it’s very chaotic) Margaret’s joy in explaining this to us was worth it.
For those who are not familiar with the What the Hale$ YouTube account, there is a couple, Jeremy and George, that live both in Ohio and Florida who purchase storage units to sell the items in there (kind of like Storage Wars). With their house in Florida, they have a neighbor that has been taking them to court for various offenses which Jeremy and George have been chronologizing on their YouTube account. There are many videos regarding all the legal matters so follow along with Margaret if you’d like! We’re hoping we can get her back in a few weeks to give us another update on this.

Angela Farrow:
We’re back for 2024 with another season but the same shenanigans! JMo joins us again with Amanda leading her favorite topic, cults. Now we did a high-level overview in Season 1 (Episode 17 in case anyone wanted to take a listen), but this one Amanda talks about a book she recently read titled “The Cult of Trump.” She also put together a fun game for us to determine if people or groups have cult-like qualities.
Our Wacky World News gives us a throwback to Florida man stories however, this one is a little different. We have some fun following the Brightline train’s saga of hitting people! If you’d like to follow this there is an Instagram account devoted strictly to this named: @brightlinecrashtracker.

On November 22, 1963 60 years ago America lost one of its important President’s: John F.
Kennedy. The mystery behind what actually happened and the numerous theories of who did it
and why continue to intrigue. Amanda provides us with an overview of that fateful day and the
top 10 theories surrounding the assassination. We also discuss the composure and demeanor
of Jackie O on that day and the days after along with the status of her blood stained pink suit.
Wacky World News sounds like a Florida person story but actually takes place in South Carolina
at a daycare in which two employees were fired for directing the children to fight each other. We
had many questions about this one and had a good laugh.

Picture this, Kelly-Hopkinsville, Kentucky 1955. You’re relaxing with all your family at the farmhouse and suddenly you are attacked by little green men! This week’s episode Chris helps us dissect the events that occurred on this night and share some fun pictures of what the little green men looked like. This event also has some debunking which seemed more plausible than what the eye witness accounts stated. We also discuss our plans to potentially partake in the Little Green Men Days festival that the town celebrates every year if they decide to bring it back.
The Wacky World News was a hoot and a great Florida person story. Who would have thought tacos could be used as a weapon.

BIRDS AREN’T REAL! BIRDS AREN’T REAL! It’s a pretty catchy chant. Angela takes the lead this week to go over its beginnings, background on the individual that started it, and the popularity with Gen Z-ers. While this is a little different than our other topics, it’s definitely a good one to mention and take a look into.
For Wacky World News, we grabbed the bull by its horns. Well we didn’t but we do converse about the man who fitted his Crown Victoria to transport his bull, Howdy-Doody, from his home in Neligh to Norfolk Nebraska that was pulled over by the police.

We’re BACK (Again)! Apologies for the brief hiatus for the past few months but the cousins have had an unexpected family death with their uncle and other life activities got in the way. To get us back into the swing of things we’re joined by Dr. Margaret to discuss some very interesting Wacky World news topics along with the Congressional Press conference that was conducted last month that ALIENS EXIST! Tom Delonge was right! Chris also discusses the Proctor Farm UFO incident of 1897. We’re a bit rusty so please enjoy our banter during this episode.

“Are you telling me you built a time machine out of a Delorean?!” -Marty McFly
That’s right, folks we’re going back in time! Or forward, we’re not really sure. Either way we’re talking TIME TRAVEL! We’re joined by a special guest, John or Jmo, from Bootleggers and Baptists as we dive into this fun, yet confusing topic. Chris gives some very scientific descriptions of time travel, paradoxes, and ways to achieve time travel. We look at items and people that were potentially transported through time. Chris also put together a top 15 list of movies ranking their ties to this.
The Wacky World News topic this week is a doozie! It’s regarding the article from last year about a 19 year old male who proposed to his 76 year old billionaire girlfriend that everyone thought was his grandmother (nonna). Apparently love knows no bounds in this case!
Check out our Guest John or Jmo’s band - Bootleggers and Baptists. Their song “Devil in a Dress” is featured at the end of this episode.

On the first day of Christmas my pagan love gave to me…one winter solstice! Throughout history, societies across the world have held festivals and ceremonies marking winter solstice, the day of the "sun's rebirth.” Most often, winter solstice celebrations honored the symbolism of fire and light, along with life, death, the rising sun, and the moon. The pagan celebrations during Winter Solstice or Saturnalia are what we discuss on this week's podcast. We dig into the top 12 traditions that most still practice around Christmas and how they evolved into how it’s celebrated now. We also play a fun “guess the country” game with the name of Santa Claus/Father Christmas, let us know how you fair with the answers.

Have you ever found yourself captivated by a particular person that made you want to do strange, potentially sinister things? Like drinking the Kool-Aid to get to the next level of life or kill to show your devotion to that person? This week we discuss seven of the most well-known cults, how they were formed, their most well-known marks on history, and make you question how particular people can have this effect on others.
