It was yet another week filled with wild and disturbing news from the regime. But seeing the East Wing of the White House, one of the most historically significant buildings in America, fall victim to Trump’s latest egomaniacal desires was particularly hard to watch.
It encapsulated everything that Trump and his acolytes are doing to our country. Their outright disregard for our laws, for our history, for the will of the people, and their embrace of self-serving pro-billionaire legislation, all while taking a wrecking ball to democracy, our rights, and our freedoms.
Harry Dunn, Joel Rubin, and Sam Schwartz from The Siren also discuss prominent Trump ally Steve Bannon’s extremely disturbing interview in which he said, “[Trump’s] going to get a third term ... so Trump is going to be president in 2028. And people just ought to get accommodated with that,” he said in an interview with The Economist.
“At the appropriate time we’ll lay out what the plan is. But there’s a plan. We had longer odds in ‘16 and longer odds in ‘24 than we’ve got in ‘28,” Bannon added.
And of course, this is on top of key Trump officials declaring that Trump will use the National Guard to stop the midterm elections (New York Times), a pro-Trump operative buying Dominion Voting Systems and rebranding it “Liberty Vote,” and the GOP’s attempts to gerrymander and overturn the Voting Rights Act.
The panel also discusses pardoned January 6th insurrectionist Christopher Moynihan’s felony charge after he made a terroristic threat against Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, as well as the need to support the Democrats running in the upcoming November 2025 elections.

Harry’s story is one of deep purpose, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to truth. He recounted pivotal moments in his career, including witnessing history during the passing of Obamacare and the harrowing reality of January 6th, which he described as a violent insurrection against our government. His reflections on that day were sobering, especially as he addressed the current attempts to rewrite the narrative and the troubling pardons granted to some participants. It’s Friday, October 17th, meaning this Republican shutdown is officially tied with the 2013 shutdown, the fourth-longest in U.S. history at 17 days. We are rapidly approaching Trump’s previous record, the No. 1 longest government shutdown in U.S. history, which took place during his first term at 34 days long. Notably, there were zero government shutdowns during the Biden Administration.
On this episode of The Siren Podcast, Jo is joined by New Jersey Senator Andy Kim for an in-depth discussion on the experiences and challenges he faces as a newly elected Senator during these insane times, the Republican Shutdown, and tomorrow’s No Kings protests. On October 18th, millions of Americans in all 50 states will peacefully and patriotically take to the streets to protest the fascist Trump regime. The protests, aptly titled, “NO KINGS” are meant to show the government that we, the people, are the ones in charge. We hold all the power, and they answer only to us.
There are over 2,600 protests currently planned, each with a safety team and strategies to diffuse violent agitators.
Ezra Levin, co-founder of Indivisible, the progressive organization in charge of the planned protests, joins The Siren for a special livestream to support the protests and encourage Americans to take their grievances to the streets this October 18th, peacefully. Ezra is joined by Jo Carducci, co-founder of The Siren and host of this livestream, and by Jess Craven, Rep. Well folks, Over a week of the Trump shutdown and Republicans are still refusing to come into work. They’ve taken a long vacation in the middle of a government shutdown and are outright refusing to work with Democrats on keeping healthcare costs down, protecting Medicaid, and releasing the Epstein files. In fact, Speaker Mike Johnson said today that he will not swear in Rep-Elect Adelita Grijalva, who is the last vote necessary on the Epstein Files discharge petition.

As Governor Newsom told us, “We have agency. We can shape [the world], and we’ve got to fight back. And we’ve got to wake up, disabuse ourselves as Democrats. I’m sick of being weak. I’m sick of being effete. I’m sick of being non-consequential. It’s not good enough to say it; it’s time to do.”
