In today's episode of The JRitis Podcast, Joyce and Rie sit down with their small group leader Kate Lee and friend Kevin Lee to talk about dating in high school and everything in between. The girls asked Kate and Kevin questions from listeners they received on Instagram, so the girls hope that this episode will be beneficial to those who are thinking about dating for the first time, currently in a happy relationship, or even re-evaluating their current relationships as much of the advice shared can also be applied to friendships.
This week, Joyce talks all about her "coming of age" experiences and everything she encountered that shaped her character. Joyce expresses her opinions on relevant struggles teenagers go through, as well as lessons she learned. Being a teen in 2020 is confusing and hard! There are all kinds of distractions around us, but make sure to take time for yourself. The next JRitis episode will be Rie's coming-of-age story, so be sure to stay tuned!

2020 will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the most historical years with the Coronavirus pandemic and the war between Trump and Biden in the 2020 election. Joyce and Rie, both 17-years-old, are one age below the minimum age requirement to vote in such a crucial year, but their passion for social justice and activism is not limited to an age requirement. Although the girls are not legally allowed to vote, they are both registered already to vote in the next election, and they wanted to dedicate a special episode to remind you to register and vote this year if you are able to! If you are younger than the required age, there is still so much you can do, such as educating and reminding older people in your life to vote. The girls also take the time to discuss their opinions on the race to the White House and one of the most embarrassing presidential elections in history. Not to mention as well, this episode was recorded a little over 24 hours after news of Trump being diagnosed with COVID-19. What an interesting time to be alive! But no matter what, the most important duty as an American citizen is to stay informed and participate whenever you can. Hopefully, this episode will inspire and motivate you to vote and to keep fighting the good fight.

In Episode 2 of Season Two of the JRitis Podcast, Joyce and Rie sit down to talk about their experiences growing up as Asian American. It’s difficult navigating life as a minority in America at a young age, and the girls discuss the complex meaning behind “Korean American”- not fully fitting in the US but not Korea either. The girls hope this episode will be relatable to other Korean Americans, Asian Americans, and other ethnic minorities. Stories of culture should be celebrated and shared!

Wow! Over 800 listens, seventeen episodes, two girls, one season- it's amazing to see how far The JRitis Podcast has come in a little under a year! To wrap up Season One (and prepare for Season Two!), Joyce and Rie sit down to answer some questions submitted by listeners and to reflect on how hosting the podcast has changed them as hosts, people, and their outlooks on life. At the end of the episode, they also take the time to thank you, the listener! for listening to every episode and providing unlimited amounts of support and encouragement with the podcast. Below are some personal thank you messages from the girls. We hope you stick around for Season Two of The JRitis Podcast!
Joyce's Thank You Message:
"Hi friends! I just want to say I truly had a fun time and got to experience something new while hosting JRitis for a whole season! Thank you to those who recently discovered our podcast, and much thank you to those ever since we announced JRitis. It means SO MUCH to me knowing that there are people around the world, taking the time and energy to listen to what Rie and I brainstormed and produced. Creating this podcast is probably one of the best decisions I've made in my life! As I mentioned in this episode, this is a safe space and a platform where I get to converse about things from music to personal struggles with my best friend, and y'all are here to listen. Although our podcast isn’t a weekly “video call”, I hope that each episode feels like a heartfelt conversation with us! Be in touch with us for our next season, and the future as this is just the beginning- exciting and new things coming your way!"
Rie's Thank You Message:
"Hello and thank you to all of the wonderful listeners of The JRitis Podcast! When we first started the pod I didn't know what to expect, but I certainly did not expect all of the love and support you guys gave us when we first revealed the pod to you. You seriously don't understand how much a simple DM on Instagram means to me about how you listened, or how cool you thought an episode was. It genuinely means the world to both me and Joyce. Knowing that you guys will be listening to the episode makes recording, editing, and posting that much more worth it for me. I'd like to not only thank our listeners but also all of the guests we were able to feature on Season One (Fred, Daniel, Josh, and KT). Thank you for willing to be vulnerable for the podcast because I know I and the listeners really appreciated it. I'd also like to thank my favorite co-host Joyce for being so dedicated to the pod and having the greatest ideas and eye for design, and being so patient and understanding with me. This podcast would definitely not be the same without you! Once again, thank you to everyone who has listened, given us encouragement, feedback, and supported us. We will continue to work hard to grow in this craft and bring you even better episodes. You mean the world to JRitis! See you in Season Two!"

In this episode, Joyce and Rie discuss the struggles of the sibling life but from the eldest perspective as they are both the oldest of three children in their family! But they also talk about the "middle child syndrome", being the lovable youngest, and they imagine what the life of being an only child must be like. They get personal with different struggles they've faced that naturally come with being the oldest such as making sacrifices for their younger siblings and being the "build-in-babysitter" from a young age. No matter what though, Joyce and Rie come to the conclusion that family is forever, and they talk about how grateful they are for their siblings and how they've shaped who Joyce and Rie have become today.
