The Nomadic Outdoorsman

This week I'm joined by another true Impact Dad, Mr. Dan Mathews from Missouri. I met Dan in 2020 while performing a wedding where I was the DJ, and he and his wife were the wedding coordinator team. Dan showed himself to be a really cool guy, and as we hit it off, I realized that we had a lot in common, particularly with our beliefs about passive income and lifestyle freedom.

On this episode, Dan takes us through what life is like as a Nomadic Outdoorsman, renovating RV's with his wife, with the two of them consciously choosing to live life on their terms, where their kids come first before anything. His path is God first, Spouse second, kids third, and then career. Dan talks about his podcast "The Nomadic Outdoorsman", and about the surrogacy journey that he and his wife are currently involved in. Subscribe and download this episode today!

Currency

The latest episode of The Impact Dad podcast features Donta J. Lewis from the ATL. Donta's success as a FOREX trader and entrepreneur came after plenty of detours. After losing his job at 21 years old, Donta’s life began to spiral. With no income, Donta had to move back in with his mom, got his car repossessed, and ultimately ended up incarcerated.

Sometimes it takes a shake up to level up, and Donta has certainly seized the day to get his life back on track. Now engaged, and a father of a newborn son, his priorities are all the way straight, and his laser-focus has led to extraordinary results.

Tune in to this week’s episode of The Impact Dad to hear how a 26 year old man has completely turned it around and how not only does he earn MULTIPLE six figures from home with FOREX trading, but his IMPACT has truly spread beyond himself to help other dads create a legacy for their families.

Quotes:

  • “If you’re not making your goals big enough for anybody to see their vision as a part of yours, then what’re you really doing?”   (29:44:29:49)
  • “You have to have gone through some things to even be open” (12:49-12:51)
  • “I can’t leave my future in the hands of somebody else” (9:14-9:17)

The Impact Dad Podcast
Presence Over Presents

In this episode, we're joined by former Cincinnati Bengals WR Tim McGee. Tim is a husband of 35 years, and a father to three beautiful daughters. Tim is now a serial entrepreneur, still based in Cincinnati, OH.

There was a structure to this episode, but as you know, conversations between friends can often take a turn. Tim talks about his post-football life, and offers that he's received that he turned down in order to be present with his family. He believes in presence over presents, and that there's no amount of money that can replace being there for his family. Of course, he still is balancing work and play, as he's got a six-figure education bill for his daughters!

Things went off-script when they began talking about the direction of the Bengals, what they should do with their draft picks this year, and then somehow they ended up trying to determine who was the better basketball player. Tune in!

The Bounce Back

What if one day in the middle of your prime, an illness hit you and almost took your life? What if you had to learn how to walk again? Could you press on?

In this episode of The Impact Dad, Aaron is joined by esteemed coach, speaker and author of "Indifferent Strokes: Embracing Life's Adversities", Mr. Terrance Minnoy. For Terrance, one of life's "adversities" meant starting over after having 3 strokes in the middle of his healthy prime. Instead of having a negative attitude, Terrance has used his situation as motivation to help others overcome and "surthrive".

Terrance is the father of 3 kids, and has an amazing, truly inspiring story behind his relationships with each one of them. It's hard not to be motivated to be better and make more of an impact after hearing this story.

It's time to take things to another level as we kick off season 4. As always, hit subscribe to keep with us as we keep making an impact!

Quotes:

  • “The day before I was working out... I felt good. I took a selfie and I posted it... 'Ask Steve Jobs. Wealth don't buy you health!" was miserable because I knew I was never gonna get paid what I was worth working for someone else.” (19:03-19:48)

Extra Credit Dads

A few years ago, I tried to impress people with a nice new car. The problem is, the dealership was more than happy to oblige, giving me an astronomical interest rate, due to my less than exciting credit score. I estimated at the time that I was spending around $10,000 more over the life of my loan than I would have paid with good credit. I'm not alone.

Billy Scott joins us today to break down those numbers, and to give us some pointers and actionable tips to start turning credit scores around. If your credit is less than ideal, this episode is for you. This is a HUGE part of "getting our finances together." For a FREE consultation with Billy and his team, visit BillyScott.com and mention The Impact Dads. Enjoy!

This week we drop in on the Lakers as they celebrate their 17th championship, and we examine Lebron's place in basketball history as well as in society in general.

What age is too young? What do we say? Let's get after it!

24: The Legacy

Today we mourn the passing of one the NBA's all-time greats, Kobe Bean Bryant. This real-time episode catches us all at a vulnerable time when we're learning how to cope with this news. Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash on the way to his daughter's basketball game. That daughter, Gianna (Gigi) also perished at 13 years old. While we laud him for his accolades on the court (5-time NBA champion, 2 gold medals, Finals MVP's, #4 on NBA's scoring list, etc), we focus on what he loved more than anything- his family.

The night before, Bryant saluted Lebron James who passed him for #3 on the scoring list. And then, he went about working with his daughter on her game. She was the heir to his throne. Kobe left a loving family behind, but they, AND WE, are better in this world because of his contribution. Drop a comment about your favorite Kobe memory. His legacy continues...

The Champ is Here...

Mark it down at age 35 years old, I finally gave my brother a compliment (or so he says). Older brothers are NOT supposed to give compliments, but I had to tell baby bro that I look up to him, and respect him for the man and father that he's become. Brandon is a big-time boss at his day job as an attorney, and he comes home and does it all over again for a wife and FOUR children under the age of 10. On this podcast, I talk to him about being a hero at home, and how he manages his time so that his family gets the best of his energy. I learned a LOT from him on this episode, and that's the last compliment he gets! Listen in, and send us feedback. Oh, and come join our Impact Dad community on facebook.

Appreciate Her

Yes, this podcast is for men and fathers, but we all know that women make the world go round. Today, we had a little fun, quick episode with  Mr. Christian, (my son), who dropped by to give us an honest, 5-year old perspective on how much he appreciates his mommy. Guys, we need to be better about showing the mother of our children how much we respect and appreciate the sacrifices she makes for HER impact in our children's lives. Whether you're split from the mother of your child, or currently still together, remember, your kids are watching how you interact and show your appreciation/ respect. I'm speaking to myself on this one too. We can ALL do more in this area, because these women allow us to be us, and make our IMPACT in our own way. Love to know your thoughts on this one...

Beating the System

Let's face it- the ideal scenario is to never have to go to court to fight for custody of your children. But if you do, it's important to know how to do it in a way that won't hurt your kids even more. You may have heard that courts tend to be empathetic towards mothers, and that it's hard for dads to win. Well, I want to introduce you to DeAndre Etherly, because he did just that! Join us for season 2, episode 2 to hear about his journey through the courts, and what he's doing to make sure that his kids get the best of his energy. LOVED recording this one. Check it out!

Participation Trophies

It's a sign of the times that with everything that's crazy in our society today, we're giving our kids a way out. When I was growing up, there were only two things: winning and losing. Now I'm not here to say that you can't be gracious in victory or defeat, and I'm certainly not saying that there's nothing that can be learned in the process, but at least back then, we knew where we stand. If we won, it validated the hard work we put in. If we lost, it signified the need for improvement.

But today's kids can get trophies just for participating, and I'm NOT OKAY WITH IT! Join me inside, and let's discuss. I'd love your feedback!

Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters
I'm so honored to share an interview with serial entrepreneur, Serious Dad Nick Sorensen. Nick and I have known each other for a long time, and I'm so proud to watch him as father, and inspired that he still reads books and listens to audios on how he can be better for the women in his family. He's got a house-full of women, and he's doing it right. You're gonna LOVE how simple being an impact dad is when Nick breaks it down.
