In this episode we learn what happens to Jacob after he tricked his brother, Esau, out of his blessing from their father; their father Isaac gives Jacob advice on who not to marry which is the Canaanite women but from within his tribe and when Jacob arrives at his mother’s father’s house he falls for Rachel hard and agrees to work for her father, Laban, to get his blessing for Rachel’s hand in marriage; Jacob works for seven years and then Laban agrees on Jacob marrying his daughter only at the last minute has his older daughter Leah who has delicate eyes, take Rachel’s place right before Jacob is about to consummate his marriage with Rachel. So, instead of Rachel Jacob accidentally marries Leah first; Jacob is then furious with Laban for tricking him like that Laban explains that’s the custom of his family that the firstborn daughter is given away in marriage first before the younger daughter and to not fret that he’ll still allow Jacob to have Rachel for another seven years of his service to Laban, which Jacob does and to Jacob the time flew by because he loved Rachel so very much, afterwards he and Rachel were finally married however God had noticed that Jacob had favored Rachel more than Leah and closed up Rachel’s womb but had Leah’s opened up and Leah had a lot of sons by Jacob while her younger sister was barren then to assuage Rachel’s sadness for not being able to bear children Rachel came up with an idea and gave her female servant Bilhah to Jacob so that when her servant conceives and gives birth Rachel will be the one under her knees and would then take the child and raise him as her own child and feel better about being barren, then after some time later God remembered Rachel and had closed up Leah’s womb for a while so Leah gave her handmaiden, Zilpah, to Jacob to have to do the exact same thing as Rachel had done with Bilhah, and Zilpah conceived and bore two sons, then Leah had laid with Jacob and had her very last child however this time it wasn’t a boy it was a sweet, little baby girl, named Dinah, who was Jacob’s last child by Leah as well as his only daughter; then God had finally decided to stop punishing Rachel for Jacob’s strong love for her and had reopened up her womb and allowed her to bear Jacob a child a son, named Joseph. All this was happening while Jacob and his family were still working and living on Laban’s land; so Jacob made one last agreement with Laban that had allowed him to leave and go back to his father, Issac’s land and his house, the agreement was that Jacob would take all of the lambs and goats that were speckled or had spots on them. God helped Jacob by making all of the newborn lambs and goats speckled/spotted Jacob had felt that Laban still wouldn’t let him go because Laban was angry that the majority of the lambs and goat livestock had belonged to Jacob because almost all of the lambs and goats were speckled or spotted so he had gotten together with his wives Leah and Rachel and told them that he was thinking of sneaking out away from Laban and they both were in agreement to do so; however for some weird reason Rachel stole Laban’s idols from him and hid them from Jacob and everyone. Jacob and his wives and his handmaidens and his sons and all his servants got all packed up and left Laban with all of their belongings including their livestock and Laban got up and had realized that Jacob and Jacob’s family had gone without saying goodbye Laban had also noticed that his idols were missing and Laban had assumed that the idols had been stolen from him by Jacob so Laban had caught up with Jacob and asked him where were his idols and Jacob not knowing what had happened to them said that Laban could search the whole camp and if he finds them that he could kill the man who had stolen them Laban had checked Leah’s tent and Jacob’s and when he went in Rachel’s tent and Rachel was in the tent sitting down on a saddle where she had hid the idols and Laban parted ways with them.
