Marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Guernsey Deportees, this brand new series goes live on April 23rd, 2025.

Through first-hand accounts and with the help of historians, we chart the fascinating journey of the islanders who were sent to the German interment camp Biberach during the Second World War.

This trailer features Jill Chubb, the Head of the Guernsey Deportees Association. She appears throughout the series alongside two other deportees, Ralph Godwin and Janet de Santos.

You’ll also hear from historian Dr Gilly Carr, the world’s foremost expert on the deportation. And Matthew Lucas, a Guernsey-based historian who sheds light on the wider picture of the War.
