The Girls Who Came to Sugarbakers (A Designing Women Podcast)
6x23 Shades of Vanessa
Hi y'all. Firstly, this episode is dedicated to the memory of our beloved Sundance.  Thrilled that she figures so prominently in this taping. Secondly, this is the last planned episode of this podcast.  In 2016 we were just two former roommates living in different states and wanting a project to take on together. You stuck in there with us through countless issues as we taught ourselves how to do this on our own.  Let's not lie, it was all Leslie teaching herself and that attempting to pass that on to Erin. (You get two guesses as to who is writing this!)  This podcast eventually moved to a bi-coastal affair and you hung in there with us through so many life changes and years.  We are astounded you tuned in to hear us carry on about everything...really to entertain ourselves. Soap boxes and inside jokes and all.  From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.  You made this even more fun than we every could have imagined.   As we come to the close of this project we ask you all to please take care of yourselves and each other.  Just like Julia, Mary Jo, Charlene, Suzanne, Carlene, Anthony and Bernice would.  Okay...maybe not Bernice. Thank you for listening. Byyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyye.     Episode Notes: Feeding the Soul (Because It's My Business): Finding Our Way to Joy, Love, and Freedom - Tabitha Brown Please Don't Sit On The Bed In Your Outside Clothes - Phoebe Robinson Several People Are Typing - Calvin Kasulke There’s Someone Inside Your House Black As Night The Final Girls The Project Leslie's Outfit:

Allison and Carlene were at odds. And Julia invoked Bette It had everything. Shout out to Leslie for creating 99.5% of the Designing Women gifs you find on the internet. The Girls Who Came to Sugarbakers (A Designing Women Podcast)
6x09, Just Say Doe
Episode discussion begins at approximately 19:45   Guess WHAT you can now watch all seasons of Designing Women on Hulu! It’s HAPPENED.    Erin’s boss gave her this Mini Zen Garden Labyrinth for completing 2 years and 8 units worth of pastoral education as a Chaplain resident. (The equivalent of a Masters! Now she has 2!)    In season 6, episode 9 of Friends “The One Where Ross Got High” Rachel makes a half english trifle/half shepherds pie and then when Joey actually likes it...that’s one of Erin’s favorite tv jokes ever. It was similar to the taco/cake situation from graduation leftovers.   Again, go see a UCB Theatre show. Erin has seen a bunch now. It was an absolute thrill when Matt Walsh showed up.  She loves it when Jason Mantzoukas makes winks about characters he has played such as Rafi’s pocket dogs on The League, which is also on Hulu!      The Read Podcast   The NoSleep Podcast                       Outfits: Erin:   Leslie:

The Girls Who Came to Sugarbakers (A Designing Women Podcast)
6x07, Last Tango in Atlanta
Yes Erin had to BLAST music and drive for a bit after a tough day at work. Particularly the Girl Talk album Feed the Animals. Here is a youtube video of driving Wilshire Blvd at night because apparently that’s something available on the internet.       Sun Bum is a cruelty free, gluten free, vegan and reef friendly as well as paraben and sulfate free line of products for your whole life in the sun but Erin particularly loves their sunscreens! Plus their tagline is “Trust the Bum” and who doesn’t love that?    The Summit Bum is made by Thrupack and probably tangible proof that Erin is “so LA” sometimes. But the bag really is made for hikers and has some ingenuity in the design to make it easy to carry.  Do you have a fanny pack/bum bag? Are you in our Wolfgang?  Playing House was a USA show staring Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair about two childhood friends that always kept in touch and find themselves living together. It has SO much heart, and yay Lady Friendships, and genuinely relatable comedy.  Erin’s gonna be on soap boxes next week like... Note: episode recap starts at 32 minutes if you want to skip our chit chat.     BIG NEWS: Designing Women is coming to Hulu on August 26th, and we couldn’t be more pleased!     Leslie’s BookSleeve Shenanigans can be found here if you’re interested in following along Erin saw a taping of the comedy podcast How Did This Get Made in Los Angeles with Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphael, and Jason Mantzoukas.    She’s been rewatching some of the trio’s work including: The League, Brooklyn 99, Big Mouth and also recommends Fresh Off the Boat, Grace and Frankie, and Burning Love.    “Friend” of the show Aziz Ansari has a new netflix special called Right Now.  It is very different from his previous specials and addresses important topics around his image, mistakes, and will still make you laugh. Go Aziz!     The library Erin’s friend was talking about is White House Public Library in White House, Tennessee. They have amazing programs. Please support your local and national libraries!    Photo by Elizabeth Doyle   This is How You Lose the Time War   Nancy Drew: The Palace of Wisdom   Mr. Wizard aka Don Herbert had a tv program on Nickelodeon called Mr. Wizard’s World from 1983-1991 that taught kids about SCIENCE.
