KEY TAKEAWAYS:
The market is very similar between countries in Europe. Whether you want to work in France, Italy or the UK; the way the market reacts to your products/services will be close to the same.
Think of countries in Europe like you would states in the US. There are differences in culture between countries in Europe, just like there are between US states. France is similar in size to Texas.
Europeans don’t consume in the same way as Americans. Europeans walk to buy their groceries. They don’t shop the same way in-person or online as Americans do. Online delivery is not as well established in consumer culture.
There are more regulations for consumer products. Anything that you can eat or any product that goes on your skin is highly regulated.
CPG is not a term that is widely used in Europe. Because of the regulation, you can't as easily start selling products as you can in the US.
Learn the culture first. You don’t speak the same way, sell the same way, and consumers are different. That’s the case for any global expansion you’re considering.
Data privacy laws in Europe are more strict. The GDPR laws in the EU are similar to California or New York.
You can charge 3-5x more in the US for marketing services. Because of low wages and other market factors, the cost for marketing services in Europe is lower than in the US.
It’s easy to adapt your service business to the European market. The agreements and the way you go about doing business is similar to in the US. People do business with those they know, like, and trust.
Start with one country. If you’re considering expanding to Europe, focus on one country first, instead of the whole continent. It would be similar to focusing on one state in the US.
People are more focused now on your brand and the people behind the brand. Tell your story. Clients want to know who you are and why you started your company. Tune in to discover valuable insights from my interview with Eva!

ABOUT YOUR HOST:
If you’re new to this channel, my name is Eli Clark. I’m the co-founder and CEO of onebridgeaccounting.com. We do bookkeeping and accounting for marketing firms.
I graduated from college Summa Cum Laude and took a job at a creative studio where I worked on VFX, animation, and publishing projects for film and games. Shortly after I started my own web design studio and saw the need for better financial services within the marketing industry. Thus OneBridge Accounting was born. Like many companies we started on a shoestring budget and hobbled along for a year before bringing on a co-founder and getting serious about our impact.
Today we provide bookkeeping and accounting services to marketing firms of all shapes and sizes, all over the world. We’ve designed our solutions with both the solopreneur and larger agencies in mind, allowing our services to scale with you.
Here’s how I can help you:
