When you are faced with unexpected opposition or overwhelmed with the pressures of life, what course of action do you take? When you are faced with something that attempts to still your joy, what do you do to keep your head above the waves? In this episode, I am talking about encouraging yourself in the Lord. God is continuously at work in our lives, but often times we are distracted by the many obstacles that we are faced with and it seems difficult to see the light of day and self-encouragement is the last thing on our minds. However, it is in those very moments that I would encourage you to go back to what God spoke to you.

God has many blessings in store for you my friend and He wants you to obtain them, not because you deserve them, but because He loves you and He is Good. So, leave the old behind and step into the new. Allow God to close those doors to what was and lead you into what will be. He is Good and He can be trusted.

God's will for our lives can be a bit difficult to pinpoint at times. This is so, not because God has a hard time telling us what it is, but because we have so many distractions (good and bad). Other times, His will may be hard to grasp because we don't want to let go of our own will. In the episode, I am talking about seeking the will of God and running the race that He has placed before. One thing that you can be sure of is that God's will for you is perfect, and it is good, no matter what your feelings tell you. Trust the process, be obedient, and keep running.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths [Proverbs 3:5-6].
Uncertainty has a way of demobilizing us keeping us from moving forward into all that God has for us. He wants us to trust Him with every area of life, but honestly, sometimes that can be a difficult thing to do because we do not know the complete details or have the definite of how it will all work out. Trusting takes heart and is never dependent upon what you can see, it is built upon what you know to be true. What I know to be true is that God can be trusted and this a truth that I pray you take to heart.

Ephesians 2: 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
It is really easy to get caught up with the idea of "trying to find ourselves" because that is what the culture encourages. This encouragement caused many to fall deeper into a whirlpool of confusion as it pertains to their identity. Throughout the Bible, the scriptures speak about identity and consistently remind us of who are and how we were created. In the book of Genesis, the very first reminder tells us that we were made in the image and likeness of God, meaning that we were designed to bear the image of our creator.
Satan's greatest plot is to convince us that we are not who God created us to be and sends all types of distractions to distort our view of our true identity. You are loved by the creator of the heavens and earth, and His thoughts of you as he formed you in your mother's womb where good and driven by love. In

I came across a video of one of my favorite bible teachers, Priscilla Shirer. In the short clip she touched on the effective power of prayer. She said, "Prayer is what pushes the kingdom of darkness back". Indeed it does!
In The next two episodes I am chatting with Cindy Vandergouw about the power of both prayer and intercession and how effective they are when understood and used properly. I was planning to post this conversation a few weeks ago, but I'm glad I didn't. With all that's going on now with COVID-19, I think now is perfect timing. There is a lot of uncertainty filling the air and people are being wrecked with fear and anxiety and it's the perfect storm for the enemy to wreak havoc in the land.
2 Corinthians 10:4 says "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds" Right now COVID-19 is creating a lot of strongholds that need to be pulled down and destroyed. One way we do that is with two of those mighty weapons, prayer and intercession.
In part 2 of "Accessing Deeper Healing, we are discussing the importance of being vulnerable and opened to correction. A wise person once said, "If we keep doing the same things, we will keep getting the same results." I've personally found this to be true. I also found that the inner conflict we experience often intensifies when we stubbornly choose to close ourselves off to truth and correction. God loves us some much and through His word we are encouraged us to seek Godly counsel (Proverbs 19:20). We were not purposed to live a life full of sin, anxiety, fear, or frustration; but a life full of joy and peace rooted in the love of God.
What must I do to conquer negative thoughts? What steps can I take towards obtaining a "healthy heart"? Is counseling necessary? These are questions that I have asked myself at some point in life and I can imagine that there are other women asking the same questions.
Over the years I've learned that we experience unresolved inner conflict mostly because we emotionally draw from wells of shallow resources. This continuous inner conflict sometimes results in further emotional, mental, and spiritual deprivation and depletion if not properly addressed. In my conversation with Christian counselor Dawn Middleton, we discus the topic of counseling and access a deeper depth of wholeness and healing.
God never intended for us to live an unfilled life, full of anxiety, frustration, and fear. Unfortunately for a great percentage of women, this issue has become a daily reality. In our conversation we touch on a three major components that are essential for healthy emotionally and spiritual living.
There are areas in our lives as it pertains to our gifts and purposes that we lack confidence in and it keeps us from stepping out and trying. There are dreams and visions that God has placed in our hearts to pursue, but we often questioned, "Is it really from God?". We get so comfortable with what we know, anything outside of that place of comfort seems far fetched and intimidating.
The reason we lacked clarity and confidence in those areas, is because we don't have a clear understanding of the purpose of our dreams and gifts.
When you let the truth of God take root in your heart as it pertains to your identity, it will all start to make sense. Not only will you start seeing life in a new way, you'll have confidence to live it out. You'll become less committed to the wrong reasons of becoming a better version of yourself and learn how to discern the difference between what hurts you even more and
what makes you better.
Why are we not committed to the things that makes us better but more committed to the things that are not good for us? It's because we lack clarity and confidence as it pertains to God's original design for us. We lack the full ability to see the value in who God has purposed us to be.
It is my prayer that as you listen to this episode that your hearts will burn with a desire to seek God with all of your hearts so that you are enlighten to the greater purpose He has for your life. Your identity is found when you look to the one who created you, your heavenly father. He loves you and you are precious to Him.
When given authorship in our lives, God breaths life into the rough draft of each chapter of our story and we experience the greater parts of His desires for us. He has a way of developing our story in such a way that we not only experience the greater beauties of what he has in store for us, but we also experience the more intimate parts of His heart and sovereignty.
God's story for you is filled with great purpose that ends in abundant life. It's a story that you could never write on your own. He loves you and has great plans for your life. Will you let him finish your story?
