Charmaine Chitate is a self-taught interdisciplinary artist working with computer-based media for over fifteen years. Anchored in photography and storytelling, her work is an exploration of her understanding of identity and the various forms it presents itself. In 2018, she was listed as one of the Top 20 Contemporary African Artists with ‘the potential to shape and inspire the global art scene – both now and into the future' by the FNB Joburg ArtFair. She is a member of African Women in Photography (AwP), The Comms Avenue and the Zimbabwe Association of Female Photographers (ZAFP) whilst sitting on the Academy of International Extended Reality’s Advisory Group as an Advisor for Arts & Media and VR Awards Judge - 3 years running.

In this weeks episode, we have a powehouse of a guest. Taremeredzwa T. Chirewa, the Director of the Zimbabwe German Society / Goethe Zentrum Harare. Taremeredzwa Takudzwa Chirewa is a visual artist and cultural practitioner with a career spanning over 10 years in the culture sector. Currently, she is the Director of the Zimbabwe German Society/ Goethe Zentrum Harare, a cultural centre and language school that focuses on cultural exchange, support of the creative industries in Zimbabwe and language development. She has focused her cultural career on developing and supporting the CCIs through creative enterprise. This enabled the establishment of a creative masterclass program which has turned passions into viable businesses over the last five years. Having graduated with a Fine Arts degree from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa in 2011, Taremeredzwa has curated exhibitions, project managed the 2013 Zimbabwe Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, and sat on the Zimbabwe Pavilion advisory committee for the 2019 Venice Biennale. She is passionate about the role of women in the creative sector and continues to pave the way and create constructive dialogue for young female creatives through her content as a podcast host, blogger and speaker.
