He wanted to use biological and chemical warfare, and so he created Unit 731 to study the effects on anyone in China from infants to the elderly, and today were going to discuss what happened.

These witnesses did not primarily implicate Marc Dutroux himself, but rather alleged the existence of a vast, protected network of abusers. This purported network included powerful figures across various sectors police commissioners, judges, bankers, businessmen, politicians, and even high nobility. In today's two part episode, we're going to be discussing Marc Dutroux and The Shadow Network. Marc Dutroux was an unemployed electrician with a major documented history of sexual assaults with a series of kidnappings of young girls across Belgium.
He was finally caught and two of his victims 12-year-old Sabine Dardenne and 14-year-old Laetitia Delhez were rescued from a concealed dungeon in his home. Then they found a grim discovery of the bodies of four other girls – 8-year-olds Julie Lejeune and Melissa Russo, 17-year-old An Marchal, and 19-year-old Eefje Lambrecks – in various properties owned by Dutroux, plunged Belgium into national mourning and outrage.
How can something like this happen?
The Dutroux Case, initially perceived as the horrific crimes of a lone pedophile, Marc Dutroux– testimonies from multiple victims alleging a vast, protected child abuse and snuff network involving high-ranking officials – powerful individuals across finance, politics, law enforcement, and even intelligence services, who purportedly facilitated, participated in, and actively covered up child abuse, torture, and murder.
