Emotional Policing in Christianity w/ Erin Green

Emotions play a significant role in our human experience, shaping our thoughts, actions, and relationships. However, within certain religious communities, emotions can be subjected to policing, where individuals are made to feel guilty or shameful for experiencing natural human emotions. Erin Green, a passionate advocate for emotional well-being within Christian spaces, joins us to shed light on this important conversation.

Reading the Bible w/ Avram Davis

Avram Davis is a pentecostal minister and finishing up my Masters in Divinity from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. He grew up in multi-ethnic congregations during much of the racial reconciliation age. During college, he connected the black experience with the gospel and no longer saw them as antithetical. He was introduced to James Cone during this time and began to formulate what it means to incorporate authentic salvation with Black Liberation Theology. In an effort to speak the reconciliation of various ethnicities and cultures in wake of Black Lives Matter, evangelical belief, and the like, he launched Unapologetically Avram. The Decolonized Christian Podcast
Reading the Bible w/ Jo Luehmann

Jo Luehmann is a Colombian born and raised pastor, writer and podcaster who moved to the US to get her masters degree in ministry and theology. After 10 years working inside of churches, developing curriculum and teaching classes on theology and doctrine, and finding in personal and systemic ways how harmful and abusive the evangelical church is, Jo quit her job and committed to finding a faith that wasn’t abusive. Alongside her partner she started the Living Room (LivingRoomSD.com) a non-profit reclaiming faith and spirituality as expressions that can lead us toward wholeness, healing and heaven on earth. In the summer of 2020 alongside a group of victims and survivors of church abuse, Jo started @doBetterChurch an online space where people abused in churches can be seen, heard, believed and connected to others who can offer tools in their journey toward healing, as well as an initiative to invite churches to do better. In less than 6 weeks the space grew to over 5000 people with over a thousand different reports of abuse submitted.

Jo speaks and teaches about decolonizing faith and theology, as well as the importance of dismantling white supremacy, patriarchy and capitalism both individually and collectively.
