Since 1935, Dartmouth has fielded student-run First Year Trips programs to welcome incoming students. While they traditionally consisted of hiking and camping over the course of a few days, the programs today range from mountain biking to museum exploration. For most of the year, Dartmouth’s student bands exist alongside each other in (musical) harmony. They add a unique and exciting layer of entertainment to the college’s social life. They play in packed greek houses to crowds of their friends and adoring fans and, uniquely to Dartmouth, often get handed down generations, such that the lifecycle of a band can be longer than the four years its founders are at the college.
