Alliance Dispatch Ep 5.2 – Legends of the Force, Pre-Release Chaos & Rotation Rumblings
Yes, Episode 5.1 got eaten by the audio gremlins. Again. So here we are with 5.2 — the real one. The Legends of the Force set has dropped, pre-release madness is (mostly) behind us, and it's time to crack into what we think about the cards, leaders, formats, and general state of SWU.
After a long weekend of relentless pre release Danny and Steve are the only two people still standing, and have a natter about their weekend and thoughts on the set.
In this episode:
🧪 Pre-release breakdowns (some of us played... three times)
📦 Set 5 impressions – too many whales, not enough Vader?
🛠️ Leader tier talk: Who’s rising, who’s mid, and who needs to go back in the binder
🔮 Rotation theories, force synergy thoughts & “cards that Jimmy the jams”
📉 And the slow-motion collapse of Kit Fisto’s as a usable leader?
We’ve got Yoda turning into a railgun, Darth Malak staying in the trade binder, and a MASSIVE whale ruining everyone’s lethal. The Force might be strong with this set — but is it fun?
🎧 Listen on the bus to work. Or while sleeving up your third underwhelming Talzin deck.
💬 Comments open for:
Best/worst pull of the pre-release
The most underrated card in Legends of the Force
Kit Fisto: playable or podcast punching bag?
📦 Merch at 500 subs. Maybe. Probably not. Definitely maybe.
Welcome back to the Alliance Dispatch! Your resident floor judge, grumpy Boba simp, and the Number 1 Kaz player in Europe return to spill the beans (and probably misplay a turn or two) in Episode 4 of Season 2!
We talk PQs (spoiler: no one here won), store showdowns (another spoiler : no one here won), and the new trilogy format that definitely will get played locally.
We've got Elvis pre final mind games, decks with more bombs than strategy, and some serious "high-level analysis" and complaining about indirect damage and overheated English weather.
💬 Featuring:
Bullying from Boba Data Vault.
How easy it is to be a Judge in any card game.
The questionable viability of Trilogies as a real format
Top notch parenting tips.
Hit play, get weird, and remember: always swing first against Cunning decks.
📢 Drop your hot takes and tournament trauma in the comments.
🎙️ Hosts: Danny, Steve and Jay (with a new Mic!!!)
🎮 Game: Star Wars Unlimited
📅 Recorded: Two weeks before we all descend into pre-release madness.
It has been a long old break between episodes, but dispatchers 1,2 and 3 are back in the pod seats.
