Hermann, Missouri - Vintner's Homestead Yarn

At Thatched Roof Cottage, we love American small towns. Our first yarn line is based on small town gems from all over the United States.

The yarn for the amazing American small town of Hermann, Missouri, is called “Vintner’s Homestead.” As winemaking is the main industry in Hermann (and has been for at least 150 years), I wanted the colorway to call to mind the varieties of grapes found in the area, or a rainstorm over the sprawling vineyards. A wine bottle stitch marker is the perfect pairing for this yarn (and I include this if you order the yarn!).

Hermann, Missouri, sits on the banks of the Missouri River about an hour west of St. Louis. It was founded by German settlers around 1837 and they still exude a German character...from some of the best bratwurst you’ve ever had...to festivals like Maifest and Oktoberfest. There are several wineries you can visit (one of which is the oldest continuously-family-owned winery in the country!), or just stroll the downtown visiting local shops and restaurants. It’s a great place to unwind, relax, and simply enjoy the day.

With a population of just 2180, Hermann has so much to offer and is a true American gem. The fabric of America is knit in its small towns…and I think you’d agree that Hermann is a real “purl.”

"Vintner's Homestead" is a gorgeous combination of teal green and silver gray. Fingering weight, 463 yards, 75% superwash merino, 25% nylon.

You can purchase the yarn here: Vintner's Homestead (thatchedroofcottage.com)
