S2 Ep. 9 Mary Kay Cabot's Legendary Journey with the Cleveland Browns

"Trailblazer" is an overused word in today's day and age; however, if an individual kicks down doors and leaves things better than they found them, the term is befitting. No one exemplifies that term more than Mary Kay Cabot. A last-minute decision defined the rest of her life and etched her name in history, providing women in her male-dominated profession a place to call home. In her 30th season, she has done and seen it all, from headbanging with Bill Belichick to her son putting Baker Mayfield in his place. Join us as we embark on this journey with her and look towards the future.

S2 Ep. 8 Jack Romer, Impossible Clothing, Found Surface
An artist’s greatest gift is the illusion and aura their art creates around the environment. Jack Romer’s is no different, a dream started in high school, turned mystery into reality, as he started the “ Impossible” clothing brand. This step took him down many alleyways which ultimately led to a culmination in the opening of a store with the same name with the mission to showcase Cleveland’s artists and give them a place to display and sell their art, a concept which had been a void subject for years. As Jack’s journey has gone on, as an a bystander, I can tell you that his art that still remains an illusion to most as unveiled a safe space, and a reality that has helped the culture that a majority of this city build on thrive and become stronger through his constant effort and passion behind his cause. Talking Out of Harmony
S2 Ep. 4: Papa Roger

On this episode of talking out of Harmony we interview Roger James Moore, Matt and Jack's grandfather and Dan’s dad.  We call him Papa Roger. Roger loves history.  He is our family historian and has passed on our history through stories over the years; stories he heard first hand from his father growing up when they would sit out in the garage and a young, curious Roger would listen.  This year we bought a subscription to Storyworth, a weekly service that sends a question to Roger about his life.  At the end of a year, the stories are bound together into a book to preserve them for future generations. We’ve been working on this project with him for about three months, and wanted to bring one of the writing sessions to Talking Out of Harmony.  Every family has stories to tell.  We hope sharing ours will prompt some questions for your family members.  Happy Holidays!  Don't forget to check out Papa Roger's handpicked playlist!

Talking Out of Harmony
Episode 9: The Story of Orlie Earnest Moore

On this episode of talking out of Harmony Matt, Jack, Dan, and John FitzGerald interview Roger Moore and Michael FitzGerald about our great, great, great uncle Orlie Earnest Moore.  Since we were kids, we’ve heard stories about Orlie Earnest who served as a second division Marine during World War I.  At just 19 years old Orlie was sent off to fight German forces invading France.  Orlie was one of the Marines who fell during a counterattack to protect Paris near the town of Vierzy when he was killed in action on July 19th, 1918.  To our family Orlie’s story symbolizes bravery, adventure, and sacrifice which is why his name is still carried on within our family to this day.  A few months ago, Michael had an opportunity to travel to France to visit Orlie’s grave at the Oise-Aisne American Cemetery.  After over 100 years of waiting, Michael became the first of our family to visit Orlie in his final resting place.  The following conversation is our family's story.  Be sure to listen to the end to hear a special song from Michael titled, "Orlie Boy."  The lyrics to "Orlie Boy" and the playlist for episode 9 below.

"ORLIE BOY"

Found their bodies in the mountain;

We ran away from the fight.

I caught you in the evening,

Shivering with fright.

You said “Stay close to me brother”

We’re gonna make it through the night.

Cigarettes by the morning fire;

I’ll never turn back, though my knuckles white,

As guns rings off in the distance;

Shooting shivers down my spine.

You said “Stay close to me brother”

We’re gonna make it through the night.

In this field, I may come to rest.

God, Family, and A Soldiers Death.

I hope you died quick,

I hope you died clean;

Orlie Boy, you were only 19.

You said “Stay close to me brother”

We’re gonna make it through the night.
