Husbands And Homeschooling
Husbands And Homeschooling with Hosts: Lindsey Stomberg & Richele McFarlin
Podcast #3
Show Notes - Husbands and Homeschooling

Join Lindsey and Richele as they look at homeschooling through the lens of homeschooling dads and discuss what potential role a husband can play in the homeschool room. Many husbands are skeptical of homeschooling the children, others are hands-on in their approach, and some take a backseat altogether. Homeschooling can be stressful on a marriage, but it doesn’t need to be. As moms, we want what is best for our children, and our husbands’ goals are no different. We will be sharing specific talking points that should be asked regularly throughout the year between a homeschooling couple to ensure that everyone is on the same page. Does your husband want to help but just isn’t sure how to begin? Are you unsure how to motivate the unmotivated homeschooling dad? Listen in as we answer these questions and more about a husband’s role in the homeschool room.

The Gift of Failure

Failing hurts. Every task or project that we put effort into that fails stings of discouragement. It can wear us down and prevent us from seeing our gifts and talents. It can make us believe we do not have anything to offer. But what if we thought of failure as a gift and not an enemy? What if failure is what catapults us into real success? Let’t turn failure on its ear and see things from a different point of view.

What Tree Roots Taught Me About My Children’s Sin

There is no such thing as small sin. Every act of rebellion, no matter the size, should be handled swiftly and purposefully.  If sin is not taken out by the root, it will continue to grow and expand eventually threatening to overtake your child’s heart. We never intend to allow sin to grow in our children’s hearts but there are 3 common ways this can happen. Listen in to this important message to help cultivate a heart free from sin.

5 Ways to Declutter Your Schedule: Stop Being Busy and Start Being Productive!
by Lindsey S
I joke that my days are fueled on coffee, stress, and the grace of God, but honestly, that isn’t too far from the truth. I find myself rarely feeling content to just be still because my mind is always racing to the next thing on the list. If I am sitting with my husband in the evenings, I am thinking about how messy the house is. If I am homeschooling the kids, I am obsessing over all that needs to be completed at work. When I am working at home, I feel guilty because I would rather be with my kids.

I do many things, but I never do any of them well, because I am doing too much.

As women, wives, and mothers we have an unrivaled ability to manufacture guilt about the things we can’t control and we have a debilitating habit of adding more to our plates that only exacerbates the chaos.

Maybe you are struggling with all of the same emotions and thoughts that I have. Have you tried for years to fix whatever is deficient within you to make yourself manage your time more effectively? Do you awake with grand plans for your day but the moment your schedule is diverted you are scrambling for a grip as your day slips through your fingers? Do you battle regret, anxiety, discontentment? Do you feel like your health is failing due to years of unfettered stress?

Busy moms everywhere want a dose of the Proverbs 31 woman’s initiative, a schedule that works, and a nap, am I right? Here are 5 ways to inject some more discipline in your life to render the results that your heart longs for. (Continue...)
