A Girl-Led Girls' Rights Conversation for International #DayOfTheGirl

Girls have something to say. It's time the world listens. Every October 11, on International #DayOfTheGirl, companies, organizations, and celebrities talk about what girls in the world want and need. But instead of talking about girls, She's the First organized the Girls Get Loud campaign to give girls a platform to speak for themselves.

In this episode, you'll hear from six inspiring young girls around the globe as they share their views on different pressing issues and what they're doing in their communities to create a better and safer world for girls. Special guests include Shonal Rath, Viktoria Never, Charity Chipopola, Jayati Mody, Peace Iyabo, and Zubeda Khamis.

Want to learn more about the campaign? Check out our Girls Get Loud page! Looking for more ways to take action for your rights? Head to our Just for Girls page! Want to stay in the loop? We have opportunities to contribute your voice throughout the year. Follow us on Instagram (@shesthefirst) and visit shesthefirst.org!

In Conversation with Actress/Activist Malia Baker

Malia Baker, a phenomenal 14-year-old actress and activist, hosted She's the First for an IG Live conversation about girls' rights on June 2, 2021. Malia stars as Mary Anne in Netflix’s The Baby-Sitters Club and as Gabby on Nickelodeon’s Are you Afraid of the Dark? Off screen, she uses her powerful platform to advocate for gender and racial justice.

She's the First Co-Founder/CEO Tammy Tibbetts facilitated the conversation among Malia, Girls Advisory Council member Anuli Ononye, and STF Community Engagement Intern Dani Antonio.

If you are a girl, listen in—this is for you! If you aren't, then perhaps you can play this conversation while driving in the car or cooking or crafting with an awesome girl in your life.

In this episode, you'll hear about two kinds of open leadership positions for girls: The She's the First Girls Advisory Council and Youth Ambassador program.
