It records all the perceived threats within our environment so it can warn us if we ever get close to them. It wants to keep us safe. Unfortunately, it doesn't always interpret things correctly and there comes a time when it's ok to let go of the real wounds as well.

You don't have to experience combat to qualify for PTSD. Just living through the war of life can qualify you. Everyday trauma and allostatic loading are real for millions of civilians who wonder why they struggle so much, but don't have "legitimate" traumas to look back on as the cause. We're ALL traumatized to one degree or another and feel the limiting effects of it. But, there is hope.
In today's episode, we're joined by Paul Whitmer, veteran of two conflicts and trauma survivor. After his deployment, on American soil, he suddenly found himself struggling under a paralyzing panic attack that would lead to a journey of confusion, discovery, healing, and eventually serving. He's a true hero.
