Jesus calls his disciples to be careful how we listen. We can take a casual approach to the gift of hearing the Word of God, and it can have even detrimental effects if not stewarded well. But if the Word of God is stewarded well, the great multiplication of blessings is promised to the careful and discerning disciple.
Jesus released the Good News that forgiveness of sins to resulting in salvation had now come to the earth. He declared that the Kingdom of God had come to the earth. Not only did Jesus preach the Gospel, He also demonstrated the power of the Kingdom of God by healing the sick and casting out demons.
On the Day of Pentecost, the Church was born. Pastor Jim discusses the Jewish belief that the first covenant was given on the first Pentecost and how that compares to the second Pentecost at the birthing of the second covenant.
King Saul’s sin seemed much more benign than King David’s grievous sins, yet God declared David to be a man after His own heart. Today’s sermon looks at how God sees a man’s flaws but also how He sees a man’s heart. David’s heart belonged to God, and our heart can as well.
Every Christian waits for the fulfillment of the promises of God. Sometimes we face disappointments while we wait, but today’s Scripture reminds us that God will always be faithful, and we will find Him when we search for Him with all our heart.
The world is searching for peace in the middle of turmoil. Psalm 131 talks about the man who has learned to quiet his soul. Pastor Jim gives three practical tips for inner peace. Don’t try to figure everything out. Don’t be judging everything. Don’t insist on needing to know the future.
Hannah carried a disappointment that only God could remedy. She cried out to the Lord until she was ready completely surrender her heart and her desires to God. She carried the Faith in her day, and her seemingly insignificant position in life created an opportunity to play a critical role in God’s purpose for the Earth.
The Law of Christ is the Law of Love. In today’s Scripture, we are commanded by the Holy Spirit to carry a each other’s burdens so that we might show the world God’s love. Each person should come to the assembly of believers with the goal to help others navigate the often complex challenges that face every believer. The strong are to help the weak because someday they will need help as well.
The first Thursday of May is always the National Day of Prayer in the United States. There will several gatherings in the state of Colorado and the Capitol in the coming days. Pastor Jim is encouraging people to pray for our nation and our state during this season when our hopes are completely in the Lord.
