In this episode, we converse with Prof. Steven Graves, the Abraham J. Siegel Professor of Management in the Operations Management group at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Dr. Graves develops and applies operations research models and methods to solve problems in manufacturing and distribution systems and in service operations. His current research is focused on operational issues arising in online retailing, supply chain optimization and strategic inventory positioning, and production and capacity planning for various contexts. Graves holds an AB in mathematics and social sciences and an MBA from Dartmouth College, and an MS and a PhD from the University of Rochester. Dr. Graves was also the past editor-in-chief of MSOM. He was inducted as a POMS Fellow in 2008. He is also a fellow of INFORMS Society and MSOM Society in addition to being a fellow of the POMS Society. In this episode, we have a conversation with Dr. Gerard Burke, Winner of the Sushil K. Gupta POMS Distinguished Service Award. The Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) created the Sushil K. Gupta POMS Distinguished Service Award to recognize contributions made by its members to the growth of the Society. Dr. Burke was conferred with the Award for 2022.

In this episode, we discuss the career of Dr. Milind Dawande. Dr. Dhawande was elected as a Production and Operations Management Society Fellow in 2022. Designation as a POMS Fellow is the most prestigious honor awarded by the Production and Operations Management Society, and is given for life. It is intended to recognize POMS members who have made exceptional intellectual contributions to our profession and Society through their research and teaching. Although loyal service to the Society, in administrative, elected, or editorial assignments, is not by itself a sufficient qualification for this award, it can strengthen the case of a member who has also become a thought-leader in our field. To be eligible a candidate must have demonstrated commitment to furthering the objectives of POMS (as evidenced by such indicators as membership in the Society, and active participation in POMS Colleges and meetings).

In this episode, we have a conversation with Dr. Max Shen. Max Shen obtained his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences from Northwestern University. He joined the department in July 2004. Before that he taught at the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at the University of Florida. His primary research interests are in the general area of integrated supply chain design and management, and practical mechanism design. He was inducted a Fellow of POMS in 2022. He is also the past president of POMS.
