That's the question that sat with Richard and Lee for years... so they started a podcast (Richly Told) to talk about it all themselves!

In this episode, we get into all the stuff we usually hide: the feeling of being a "terrible employee," the courage it takes to talk about mental health, and that moment of finally admitting you might need to ask for help (and what happens when you're a total sceptic about it).

It's a chat that I reckon will make a lot of people go, "Oh, that's soooo like me."

We also chat about why they homeschool their kids and there's a hilarious story about how they got together!

Wayne from Coast FM 963 thought he was just popping down to the waterfront to pre-record a quick chat for his show... until the awesome moment at the start of this one where he realised that he was actually the guest for this episode! (I think his heart is still recovering).

We get into why he (and a third of all Aussies) volunteer their time for free, the absolute passion of being a true "radio nerd," and what it was like for him to go on air for the first time. It also got me thinking about my own start in radio, from playing pretend in a caravan to the mentor who inspired my entire career.

I also share the story of my disastrous first-ever live shift...

I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with the brilliant Mikaela Magro, a 19-year-old legend from the Central Coast who plays for the Australian Women's Deaf Football Team.

I had so many questions!

We chat about the amazing technology - like the magnet screwed to her skull (that doubles as a brilliant party trick), and the surprising rule that every player has to follow, to create a truly level playing field.

First up, a bit of a warning on this one. This episode deals with the loss of a child. When the Podvan rolled up to the Cancer Council's annual Relay for Life, I didn't know who I'd meet there. I couldn't have imagined I’d sit down with Lou and Rob, the proud parents of a champion - who I'd actually met a few years ago.

Their son, Spencer, was a 10 year old entrepreneur that launched "Spins Bins," a wheelie bin cleaning empire.

In the episode, Lou and Rob share their story about finding laughter and light in the darkest of times, what keeps them going, (one minute at a time) and the incredible community that has rallied around them.

That’s how the chat started with the incredible Jon and Nicky, and their story only gets more unbelievable from there. It's a journey that spans decades, through multiple cancer diagnoses, unbelievable heartbreak, and a mental health crisis that brought Nicky to a breaking point where she was ready to end it all.

We also talk about the crazy parallels between Jon losing his job and my own story of being let go from radio, and the simple (but controversial) lifestyle change they made that left Nicky’s doctor absolutely stunned, uttering words she had never heard in her entire life: "It's gone."
