TNEC owner Duran Bickmore was a guest on episode 74 of Platform podcast and I enjoyed it so much I've had him a back on a couple of times. The last one was a Patreon exclusive chat, but this time I wanted to see how he was doing now he is back on skates after breaking his ankle, find out a little more about TNEC's team, which has grown quite a bit in the past 12 months, and he completely blindsided me by showing off the new UFS boot he is working on. We also talk about a bunch of industry stuff and he offers a refreshingly transparent insight into how his business is going, the number of sales and trends he is witnessing as a shop owner and company owner. Brandon Bobadilla has impressive sections in the Anthony Medina videos Candy and Ends, and he recently released a new section for Blank called Rookie Season, so it felt like the perfect time to get him on the podcast and have a chat. He talks about how he discovered rollerblading, why he essentially skated on his own for the first five years, his first street sessions with other rollerbladers, filming for Candy and Ends, how he got on Blank and what it's been like living out of a van in recent years.

Seattle resident Alex Same talks to us about being part of the excellent Chance of Rain video series that was created by Carter le Blank and Derek Brown. He also discusses what it was like working on Illegal Smiles with Josiah Blee, Jake Dotson and the rest of his highly skilled crew. In addition to this, we chat about how he got hooked up with Deal With It SF, TNEC and most recently Blank.
Alex has a very interesting approach to skating. The majority of the spots he is interested in are not your typical session obstacles, but one-hit wonders that you get one trick on and then you move on. In many cases, just rolling away from the spot is good enough because he regularly takes on rough, nasty, unforgiving and downright scary setups...and he seems to thrive on it!

It took almost a year, but I finally managed to get Scott Quinn back on to finish the episode of Platform podcast that was interrupted due to the internet elves wreaking havoc with our connection. It turns out time difference, family life and work commitments can make arranging a time when we're both free for a couple of hours very difficult. We picked up where we left off, talking about 8Set, last year's CPH Open and this year's event, how life has changed for him now that he lives in Denmark, his plans for the future and loads of other topics. f you would like to support this channel and watch more videos like this, join the Wheel Scene Patreon here - https://www.patreon.com/wheelscene Footwork T-shirts are available from the Wheel Scene shop - https://wheelscene.bigcartel.com
TNEC owner, and co-owner of Beehive Skate Shop, Duran Bickmore discusses the new TNEC 58 skate, an entry level aggressive skate aimed at newcomers. The Salt Lake City resident discusses his plans for the skate, why he chose to go with a mould from the 1990s, why it is going one of if not THE lightest aggressive skate on the market, and some of the key features that he thinks will make a different to first-time buyers.
In addition to talking about The New Everything Company, Duran talks his experience about running a skate shop alongside Nicholas Swan for the past few years, what he has learned, observed about the industry, and noticed and customer trends. As someone who thinks they have a relatively good understanding of how the skate industry works, I was VERY surprised by some of his responses!

Michael Kraft is one of my favourite skaters to watch over the past couple of years. His skating is full of surprises, combining of traditional street skating skills with a keen eye for an interesting spot, or a way of seeing something in a standard skate obstacle that most people would overlook. I was very excited about doing this episode, so much so that even when he cancelled on me the first time I kept annoying him until he finally came on the podcast! My persistence was rewarded with a couple of hours and change of chat with an interesting, funny and pleasantly weird individual. Enjoy!
